I am originally from R.I. in an area that borders southeast MA which has a huge Azorean Portuguese population and those wonderful rolls are called pop sic. In my former neck of the woods those rolls are used for a very popular Portuguese sandwich known as chourico and peppers which chourico is an Adorean spicy sausage used in everything from soups, turkey stuffing, and stuffed clams. The sandwich is basically chourico sliced in coin size pieces and fried with sliced onions and sliced green bell peppers, then a little red sauce like Hunt's is added then the mixture is simmered around 15 minutes and served on a pop sic roll. A kicked up version of the sandwich is adding French fries to it. Gaspars, Furtados, and Michaels make pretty good chourico with Michaels the leanist and all ship. NJ can't live without their pork roll and southeastern MA & R.I. can't live without their chaotic whether you are Portuguese or not. 😊

Taylor porkroll does not have the word Ham on its packaging. Therefore, calling it Taylor ham is incorrect. Read the packaging. Case closed.

Thank u 2 the ppl who call it by its name. Taylor is the brand, pork roll is the product. The only reason 4 tht confusion is bc mayb it was only Taylor brand up north. U can go 2 shoprite and get the shoprite PORK ROLL. If tht was the case u wud call it shoprite Taylor ham but thts 2 brand names

All I know for sure is that when you buy it in the grocery store and it comes in a canvas bag, it's Taylor Ham; otherwise it's just pork roll.

You are correct sir. But that’s also the companies name. They had to change the name to pork roll, cause there wasn’t enough ham in the mix of Meats that make it up, so they had to start calling it Pork roll, cause it was false advertising otherwise! But it does say taylor ham when you buy it!

Us northerners stood up the the 1906 tyranny of the brand new FDA and stuck with Taylor Ham. The southern Jerseyians folded like their football team did on Monday and started calling it pork roll. Goggle "taylor ham original packaging" and you'll see why everyone called it Taylor Ham.

The seasoning is different between Taylor Ham and other pork roll. So, I hate to break it to you, your debate didn't really solve anything. Personally, I think Taylor Ham has a better taste than other brands.

I’m bordering union, and somerset counties, and I assure you, the northern portion of central Jersey calls it Taylor ham. It’s “pork roll” south of the Driscoll

When I was a kid Taylor pork roll was the only one I knew . We called it Taylor ham . Later had others and started calling it pork roll . Taylor remains my favorite but Case is good also and cheaper . Shoprite brand is good
