I didn't know that as well! Very interesting. "Vinho e alho" - wine and garlic - somehow managed to sound as "Vindaloo" through Indians mouth, which sounds way more cool. What a wonderful example of cultural exchange that dish is! Cheers from Brazil.

The Portuguese name for the wine and garlic marinade is "vinha de alho". That's the origin of this dish.

I just made and it was absolutely delicious! I didn’t marinate for long, just while I was cutting and frying the onions, so you can make the express version as well. I used 500g pork and we had with chapati. It was the perfect portion for 2. Love it 💕

You could try any hot red peppers, if you use fresh ones pls do deseed them first. Add some paprika to get the lovely red colour. Enjoy!

I just made the vindaloo paste and it smells beautifully, I can only imagine the smell i I had the coconut vinegar. I will continue tomorrow. If you do not hear from me it did finish me off, but it was worth it :D
