Great instructions Wray. Mark excellent camera work. Also A++ on your CG work. Black with gray drop shadows makes for less eye strain reading. Keep going both of you guys.

Thanks for taking time to post your videos. I've been to Kent Whites class and Lazze's step 1 and 2 classes. Your approach and teaching of metal shaping is easier to grasp. Thanks again.

Keep ‘em coming, Wray! Showing that the process of shrink, stretch, check, repeat, is reassuring for people new to metal shaping as early on it really can seem a daunting process and I’m convinced that many people have tried and given up after the first few attempts due to the nature of the areas that require attention on the panel moving around as work progresses. Happy new year to all at ProShaper from Paul.W in the UK.

You've given us a lot of great tips in this video. Thank-you! I made a pretty good sized hood scoop last week out of .090 5052, annealed it of course. Really surprised myself that it came out perfect. Still using my HF english wheel with polished upper (I remachined it to about .002 runout) and waiting for the 9x4 upper and 3x3 lower set I ordered last week. Thanks a million for all you're teaching us. I want to take your course when things settle down out there.

Another instructive video Wray, hope you had a good New Year & keep them coming please! Keep meaning to ask, have you ever tried a hot dog die and a urethane hammer to fast form your reverse curves?
@proshaper
@proshaper 3 жыл бұрын
No, I haven't tried a hot dog die. Haven't needed to I always get my reverse shaped. I will try that techniquel at some point.

Hey Wray, do you offer a class just building car body wire bucks from scratch like from board rendering to actual wire buck? Also when do you plan on releasing the plans or parts for the gathering tool for sale?
@proshaper
@proshaper 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, At every class if a student wants to learn how to make a wireform buck that is what happens. Lots of wireform bucks have been made at my classes by students. I have the plans for the gathering tool on the front burner.

Hello Wray, could you show a head on front view of the gathering tool in an upcoming video? Are the lower two jaws parallel or set in a “V” formation? I can’t tell if the radius is creating the illusion of a “V”. Also I heard that in addition to likes and comments, letting the ads play fully increases your profit. If this is true I will let the ads play out. Can’t thank you enough for all that you do.

What about doing aluminum tubes as the wire buck then that way the panels are welded straight to those ?
@proshaper
@proshaper Жыл бұрын
Make a wireform and you will understand why wireforms work so good. Inner structure and wireforms serve two different functions.

No, The thickness of this panel is .050" the shrink zones of the panel are now a few thousands thicker, a few stretched areas are a few thousands less, and most of the panel is still very close to the original thickness. I annealed it which makes it appear flimsy, that will disappear as the panel gets fully developed.

Hey Wray why the tape around the wire form? scratching the back side of metal?
@proshaper
@proshaper Жыл бұрын
Scratch protection and it allows a photo of the wireform. Without the tape you can barely see the wireform in a photo.

Good show I enjoy it a lot. Why is the handle so long on your other plastic head hammer, and why’s the head so long? It looks a bit unwieldy in the previous episodes. The one you’re using today looks smaller and better :-)
@proshaper
@proshaper 3 жыл бұрын
You use the long handle when you need it. My mallets have mass to them which allows you to move the metal. The heads are long because as a panel gets shape the sides come up. If the heads aren't long enough the edge of the panel will hit the handle.

Wray how many lower wheels do you actually need? I never see you change them. I'm making a flat and a maybe 3" radius lower wheels out of 4140 steel for more toughness. Do you really need all the radii in these sets they sell?
@proshaper
@proshaper 3 жыл бұрын
I use my workhorse wheel which is a low to medium crown probably 70 percent of the time, my medium crown wheel 20 percent , my low crown 9.5 percent and my high crown .5 percent.
