Porsche 718 Cayman GTS | First Impressions!

Hello and welcome to Life In Motion!
In today's video, I walk you around my new Porsche 718 Cayman GTS and run you through my first impressions of my daily driver.
I discuss the outside design including the fantastic Miami blue exterior colour. I dive inside to see whether the 718 Cayman is now looking a bit dated...and I start the car up to see what this 365bhp sports car sounds like.
I will be filming lots of future content with this car and so make sure to look at for plenty of videos to come. For now though, I'll see you very very soon!

Definitely worth it. That's the top color. Interior looks brand new, check out the 2023 718 GTS 4.0, it looks exactly the same. Before I bought mine, I rented a 718 base for a week while my 06 Cayman S was in the shop. This was 2017, it was lightly optioned , 19in Boxster S wheels and heated seats I think were the only options on my rental. I loved it, my only gripe was that it was so lightly optioned. Then later that year, I rented one again, a base 718 Boxster again lightly optioned, only had multifunction steering wheel, but had base 18 in wheels. I drove it to Vegas from La Quinta. Great trip. Loved the 718 again but wished for more options. Fast forward 5 years and now I've got a 718 GTS. Mine cost $101,320 msrp when new and had $20k in options. All the little options I wanted 5 years ago on the 2 that I rented are present on this car and it's got more torque than the base. I'm absolutely in love with this car! I have the same headlights too as yours, I love the way they move when starting the car up. It's give the impression that car is waking up every time it starts. Very Herbie like. BTW my other car a 2021 VW GTI that's color is Iron Blue Metalic. VW has a light blue too, and I would've got my VW in their light blue color but nothing beats Miami Blue, that's probably the best color they have.

I do agree! Love the colour 👍🏻 they’re not cheap to buy, but it’s worth getting the right options as it helps massively with resale! I’m really glad you’re enjoying yours. Love the GTI- haven’t driven one but have heard the good news. All the best!

As a first gen 2006 Cayman S, its light years ahead of what i have. i drove the 718 GTS its effing great! hella fast! my next car i want to be a GTS but not sure which GTS (981, 718 or GTS4.0) or just hold on to my car.

Very interesting! I will say, a friend has a manual GTS 4.0 and is obsessed, and he’s been a PDK fan for years! Worth a try

@@LifeInMotionuk my laziness says pdk all day and let's face it if I daily drove my Cayman I'd go pdk with traffic in southern California but I take mine out early Sunday morning and spank her around the canyons for a bit and take her home for the week. Nothing like rowing through the gears when no one is on the road

Re: the red brake callipers, don’t they denote that they’re steel brakes (and yellow is for carbon brakes) rather than S/GTS model? Personally I don’t mind physical dials and switches as I hate the cars that have an entirely virtual dash. Perhaps a mix of virtual and physical would be my preferred. The cup holders look great but are terrible in use. I did have a coffee in one and it got spilt onto the centre console switches, resulting in sticky switches for a long time. Sound and colour is very subjective, and everyone has their own preferences - but you have a very fine car that many would aspire to. 👍

So re the callipers, on the base car the steel brakes have black callipers and Porsche do not allow you to upgrade them to red as an option. It’s only with the S and GTS that they are changed to Red. But you’re absolutely right that yellow denotes the carbon brakes! You know I’m with you there Eddie. Some physical buttons and dials integrated with virtual would give the best of both worlds. I’ve driven quite a few EV’s now and so many have very few buttons which makes navigating displays quite dangerous Ah you see I think if the cup holds we’re just slightly deeper, they’d be better. I had a rule that I drink a 1/3 of my drink before leaving it in the cup holder…doesn’t really help with a hot drink ! Indeed, I’m going to do a focus video on the sound to ask you all whether it sounds good in you opinion. Thanks Eddie, I’m very pleased with it ! Really appreciate the feedback

re that alcantara wheel leather also suffers with the gruppy hands by going shiny. Alcantara just needs a wipe with a damp mf and brushing with a suede brush to keep it factory fresh. A leather wheel on the other hand will always lose that factory matt finish however much you care for it

Ah okay, so I’ve cleaned the wheel a few times- I think the leather wheel was easier/quicker to clean but I must admit after 30-40 minutes of cleaning the alcantara, it looks brand new

Porsche never got the best interior, especially when it comes to technology wise. Just look at 997, compared to an ordinary E60 BMW/W212 Mercedes, the 997 just goes below par. 992 has got some virtual dashes but to be honest, it doesn't give a premium and high tech feeling. A standard W205 would have a more modern interior. But tbh, you don't buy Porsches for that. I actually like the analog speedometer and Rev meter. It definitely feels sportier.
