Porsche 911 Boxster 986 987 Cayman - How to repair heat and AC blend door foam blowing out the vents

How to repair the AC / Heat Blend doors on a Porsche 911, 986, 987, and Cayman if the foam is coming off and the heat is not working or AC is not blowing. It's easy to tape up the blend doors without removing the heater core. You can access the blend doors by removing the stereo and AC controls from the middle of the dashboard.

Thanks for this super helpful video. KZbin University! I just cleaned out the foam on my 1999 911. The whole project took about 4-5 hours. I found it really helpful to turn on the defrost mode with the fan on high to blow out the foam pieces periodically.

That thing you found in the woods might be a fishing hook remover.

LOL that's super interesting. I found it when I was fishing with my son, it was just laying on the ground in the woods 5 minutes from the fishing spot. I didn't use it in this project. So, I'll put it in his fishing tackle box now.

This method doesn't work for the 987, they have a completely different dash assembly. You will need to go through the heater core in the frunk to fix this problem on a 987

This is an improper method of repair. The proper method goes in from the cowling through the heater core. Allowing one blend door to be removed and better access to cleaning out the larger a/c unit.
