that is so true! having watch his other videos, tom has always been very patient and calm under pressure which are important qualities of a good engineer.

Thanks! My view is this is supposed to be a fun hobby. If it stops being fun then walk away. I have a lot of respect for mechanics who work on others cars for a paycheck. That would try my patience for sure. A tech at a dealer would probably only get paid an hour to diagnose this regardless of how long it take him or her. That's where it gets ugly. These are my own cars and I don't depend them for transportation. That's a huge difference! It's just a hobby that I really enjoy!

sorry to hear about the real culprit, I hope you have some recourse. The motor sounds very strong it just needs a lit more tlc which I am sure you can supply in spades. Fingers crossed for you to get that unit fitted back properly. Makes me feel good seeing you use the old Tektronix, which is a great tool. Worked for them for about ten years. Looking forward to the next episode.
@GarageTimeAutoResto3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the seller is being supportive so I'm confident we will sort it out. I'm so glad we found these issues on a test stand and not in the car. It's so easy to work on these engines when it's out in the open. Does Tektronix not exist anymore?

I had a similar problem. Car sat for about a year as it was getting repainted and the injectors froze up. Tapping (yes tapping not pounding) on them with a small hammer frees up the injector and allows them to start working properly again. I bet you can get that broken one to start working with some love taps Great job actually diagnosing and not just throwing parts at it

Nice running engine, now was it the harness to the ECU?
@GarageTimeAutoResto3 жыл бұрын
There may be a problem with harness too, but when I plugged the original ECU back into the running engine, it wouldn't start. I suspect there could be something in the harness that is shorting it? I don't want to try the original harness on my ECU. Will do some multimeter tests on the harness and go from there..
