PORSCHE 911 DAKAR - Off Road Test Drive

The Porsche 911 Dakar (type 992) off road sports car sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds; due to the all-terrain tires the top speed is limited to 240 km/h (149 mph).

The 3.0-liter bi-turbo 6-cylinder with 480 horsepower (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Nm delivers superior performance with a compelling boxer sound.
The new Porsche 911 Dakar can be ordered now at a price of € 222,020 incl. VAT. The Rallye Design Package costs 26,061 euros including VAT.
As standard, the engine comes with an eight-speed PDK and Porsche all-wheel drive. The standard equipment also includes rear-axle steering, the engine mounts from the 911 GT3, and PDCC anti-roll stabilisation. The interplay of all the components results in the 911 Dakar being just as dynamic on sand and loose surfaces as it is on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Maximum off-road performance is also ensured by two new driving modes, which can be selected using the rotary switch on the steering wheel. Rallye mode is ideal for loose, uneven surfaces and features rear-focused all-wheel drive. In off-road mode the high clearance is activated automatically. This mode is designed for maximum traction on difficult terrain and on sand. Both of the new driving modes also feature the new Rallye Launch Control, which enables impressive acceleration on loose surfaces and allows wheel slippage of around 20%.

Its quite the opposite. Porsche’s main money maker are the Cayenne and now Macan ranges, the sports cars are more of a side hustle. All this while Ferrari was still making a good enough profit from their sports cars without even having an SUV.

@@bella_testastretta I’m aware of that. The big issue with Ferrari is they’re not really succeeding in anything they do. They’re doing terribly in racing, their cars are either aesthetically unappealing or over complicated (or both), their customer service and relationships suck, their quality control is pathetic especially for what you pay, and they’ve gone from making prestigious and exclusive cars (and some of the most beautiful and desirable cars the world has ever seen), to making mass-marketed unreliable people pleasers. They’re not the iconic company that Mr. Ferrari and Montezemolo breathed life and success into. They’ve really lost their touch. Porsche, on the other hand, is still winning motorsports and making exceptional cars while still retaining their heritage and sticking to what they do best. They only made mass-appealed cars for the sake of saving the brand from bankruptcy, and at least those people-pleasing cars are actual quality products consumers are not afraid to use. Also, not only is their service and attention to their customer/consumer base excellent for the most part, they keep innovating and breaking new ground with what they do; something I always admired.

Since I don’t own an off-road worthy 911 mate, I enjoy nature by cycling, hiking, snowboarding, diving, fishing, etc. Therefore I suggest you think before you write next time. Keep enjoying what you like and if the image of a engineering masterpiece in the nature bothers you so much , I would suggest you just watch videos that really interest you and avoid wasting your time on things that are meaningless to you. It’s less than say an equivalent Ferrari, it’s more reliable and does just as much as any of those others. Although with recent price increases their becoming less less expensive. And some of them like the GT3 are just as hard to get
