Porsche philosophy was winning:producing sport cars yet fully driveable in everydays' commuting, whatever the traffic, the weather, the season. So,a tough and entertaining companion for demanding drivers.Possibly the best value/economy/performance/reliability ratio ever available on four wheels.

This should be a 2200/S 180 bhp...raw power and amazing performance coupled with great reliability and easy daily use, with little servicing costs. Great piece of machinery indeed.

I like the appearance of the new ones. They do look a bit different, and both look excellent, just in their own ways.

I owned a 1967 911S Targa in 1971 for a couple years. At first I lived in Santa Barbara and the Porsche went for fast drives with the top off up the coast. That was fun. One time while going no more than 35 mph on the UCSB campus there was a fairly sharp corner and I lifted off the accelerator. The car went right into a snap spin that was about 360 degrees. It was unexpected and there was no recovering it once it started to go. In this model of Porsche this is not a small thing and could get you in real trouble. I had previously owned typical US made cars like a 1969 Firebird convertible with a 400 HO motor and 4 speed. Foreign ones like 1957 MGA. A 1956 Alfa Guillietta. And so on. All of these cars were much more forgiving in their handling than the 911S. I then moved to Los Angles to work and the Porsche became significantly less fun to drive. No air conditioning. Very noisy. In my personal opinion if I were looking to buy a classic Porsche 911 I would look to a later model where the rear end was under better control and the fuel injection was good. And air conditioning was an option.

My 1983 3.0 Targa is fine with me. I put the Recarro racing seats in and added the slotted rotors. I was getting worried that nothing was going wrong with it. One thing you do want to do it tune up the engine timing and chains. About every 3 years that should be done. It is such a fine car you will never feel like you have to prove anything ever again.

The one thing that bugs me is when the guy says a new 911 is just a face lifted version. Even the air-cooled 993 is much more than that, with completely different suspension with coil overs instead of torsion bars, ABS brakes, vastly improved engine, transmission, heater and AC, on and on. Its actually one of the more amazing aspects of the 911, the extent to which newer models use advanced engineering yet remain faithful to Ferry Porsches original timeless design.

Well, not a personal belief:I owned the whole mech.fuel inject. production:2000/S 170bhp,2200/S 180bhp,2400/S 190bhp all of them redlined around 7200/7300.You can check on any vintage 911 database:actually the gap was not so wide between 2000 and 2200:the 2400 offered a remarkably stronger torque and that was the main difference one could appreciate,in everyday's driving. I'm talking of stock engines.I remember the 2000/S being uptuned to 210 bhp for racing purposes but that's another story.

I just had the honor of recovering a very early Irish Green 911 all original car #302226. After sitting in a barn for over 20 years it was up and running in less than 48 hours, a true testament to the great Doctors love and passion for the automobile. I have documented the story on my channel of how a 39 year old kid found one of the earliest ground breaking vehicles of all time.

No no dont get me wrong i dont know very much about cars. In fact im driving a rusty old Yugo. It has a 55 hp engine and it can go about 140 kmph on an open highway. I dream about driving one of those high powered cars with no tuning issues. My next door friend has a bmw... The thing is violent, i love it :D

Porsche is the best car ever made. I am a real American, and I will give you the HONEST truth. GM will NEVER catch up. The German cars kick butt on anything GM can try to come up with. Sure there are more powerful, more expensive cars, but they will never beat the 911. NEVER. Sorry! I have driven lots of cars... my 911 just leaves me begging for more. When I drive my GMC, I just want to drive my 911 MORE.

miles514 That 911S dream car sits in my driveway... on jacks. Anyone gimme 24,000 US for it? Haha just kidding... just putting in a new fuel pump check valve ($22) and changing the plugs and wires (I live in TX and it has vapor-lock issues in this torrid heat, and one day I will get the synchros for 1,2,3 gear re-done. Ok, ok, gimme $25,000 and it's YOURS... if you're lucky.

Well here you first go trough a driving school. Its just driving around with a teacher in a school car. Then when you go trough that than you can take a test, first on paper, then on the road. Ones you passe the 2 tests you get your learners license. Its what you said you call newly licenced driver. But, you first have to drive with a more experienced driver for a year. It can be anyone who has a regular driving license more than 5 years. Oh and the time rules are applied in Serbia 2 :)

Sorry to disappoint you Pal. American Cars such as Camaro and Corvettes are cool cars. As for the rest there isn't much the American cars have in style. Not too many of cars Made in USA get exported in large numbers. German cars have always been the benchmark of world class cars made with great styling and performance. Any other USA cars that did look good were older Fords and Chevys made in the 1950's.

I think its Yugo F something i forgot but i do know that it runs a little smoother and faster. I dont care im now 18 years old and to be honest nobody that young should drive big, faster cars sure i would love to but you know :D... The 911 is an old car and i have a feeling its not really easy to get ;).

Watched 1:20 of this and, really? 911s oversteer? Ridiculous. They understeer in stock form. Every 911 enthusiast knows this. When you lift mid-corner, they will oversteer but then you just put your foot down and the rear hooks back up. That's the beauty of a 911. I wish media wasn't so misleading. Don't let this temper the passion for what is arguably the finest sports car ever made.
