Thank you for sharing this excellent video on KZbin: 👍👌👏! This model is very popular in scale slot car racing as it is very wide, probably too much so. All my 917 Fujimi bodies were askew to a different degree. Glueing the top and bottom body parts together before painting and mounting the chassis helped a lot 😊.

Thanks a lot!! 💪 I didn't know that they can be compatible, for sure not plug'n'play, but I'm surprised that it is popular to convert kits into slot cars. Actually, I have some old Carrera Uni 132 slot cars like the Porsche 935 or BMW. 😀 They don't work for sure, but maybe one day I will do some video about renovating them. 😀 The slot car body seems to be more durable compared to plastic kits. Is it then easier to brake during racing?

These older Fujimi kits can be a little challenging. This kit captures the essence of the 917 very well. You have also done a very nice job of building it and have a beautiful model for your efforts.
@AdHocCarsАй бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! The Fujimi kits definitely have their quirks, but they really do bring out the beauty of classic cars like the 917! I wonder whether new Fujimi kits are equally challenging... Have you had a chance to build some new ones? :)

@@AdHocCars The only Fujimi I have built is the GT40. I have one of their 911 Carrera RSR Turbo kits which looks very nice and will be built soon.

I have heard that this was a difficult kit to build but you showing us the warped areas now prepares me better for my build. All of a sudden it doesn't seem that scary anymore. The 917K is a beautiful car that I want to add to my collection and now I think I can. Thank you so much for this video.

Hi Jean. Thanks for your feedback I am glad that you have found my content valuable :) As far as I recall there were couple of more issues to challange like side windows (they didn't fit either due to their shape or warped body), martini stripes decals on the front fenders (I wasn't able to achieve the right curve even with decal softeners so I needed to cut them a bit on one side to get the right curve and then fit the stripes alignment), top hinges of the rear body (they are really thin so it is quite easy to bent them while checking the body alignment), front hatch (it is just too big compering to the real one, needed additional work). I have seen couple of great projects regarding this modelkit which were done with a lot of care for details and now I know how much effort was put to made this model look great. The 917 itself is a real beauty! :) wish you good luck with your 917 😀

Great Job. You have restored my faith in my ability to build a crappy Fujimi model kit. My last one was a disaster movie. I see that with some patience and time you can actually have a beautiful result. Thanks for sharing this video...I will give it a try.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on my video! 😁 I'm glad that this project inspired you to give the Fujimi model kit another try 😀 full agree that these kits can be difficult and crappy...I struggled to achieve the desired level of quality with this particular project but It is fine... However, I strongly believe that patience is key when it comes to model building, and with enough time and effort. I wish you the best of luck with your kit! Thank you again for your feedback!😁 are you going to build another 917? 😀

I pulled mine out of the stash to have a go with it. Your video will be playing along as I build it. Hopefully I can do the same justice you did to yours. I did toss the fist edition Kinetic 1/48 F-16 Sufa. That was a disaster

Thank you! I'm really happy that you find this video valuable😀. However, this kit brought unexpected challenges, and due to a combination of its relatively lower quality and my limited experience, it didn't bring me much joy. I hope that in your situation, things will be different, and you'll overcome every challenge effortlessly! so Kinetic adventure won't happen again 😀

What a great build,despite the issues you had. I love the model and will keep your video as reference. May I ask how many layers varnish you used?
@AdHocCars Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for feedback! sure, basically it is 3 - 4 ml of varnish in ratio 1:4 and 1:6 (clear coat : thinner). Every layer has min 5 minutes dry time and there are about 4 or 5 thin layers.
@OnnoWeeda Жыл бұрын
@@AdHocCars Thanks, doesn't it get to thin? Thin like water?
@AdHocCars Жыл бұрын
It gets really thin and it is quite easy to overspray. I am using AirCobra 0.3 airbrush with the smallest spot setting to avoid these kind of issues
@OnnoWeeda Жыл бұрын
@@AdHocCars Thanks for your answer. I am stepping over from spraycans to the airbrush. It gives more control with the airbrush. So just asking around what other modellers are doing 👍🏻 Helps me a lot.

for those in the know, was this the old UNION kit from Japan? (Which may or may not have been a HELLER kit at one point)
@AdHocCars11 ай бұрын
That's interesting! I just watched a review of the UNION kit, and the sprues look a bit different. I would answer that these kits are different, but I haven't built either the Heller or Union kit. Are they as low in quality as this Fujimi kit? :)

There is a Firestone decal on the car but Good Year's are mounted....🤔
@AdHocCars9 ай бұрын
True! There are two types of decals to choose from. Firestone and Good Year. I chose Good Year, there should be also AVON available as there is a 917k #22 in Stuttgart museum with this tires on :) but it isn't...
