Old wives' tale myth buster: It doesn't matter if you get oil on your brake pads. Although they WILL fail an MoT in any contaminated condition, it doesn't affect braking performance much at all, and practically all performance returns once said contamination has been burned off by driving as aggressively as possible for a few weeks. The thought of doing that is the kind of thing people who've never lived life on the edge SHIT themselves about all the time. It's a bit like the one about catalytic converters being buggered once they've been subject to a bit of oil being burned from leaky valve oil seals, etc. It's utter bullshit. Love the channel. Your attitude is top and I'm chuckling all the time.

The Porsche 924 is great car. I've owned 10 of them and also raced one in the 924 Championship. You can keep the original calipers at the front and drums at the rear for the track, just use racing brake fluid and Mintex or Carbon Lorraine pads.

Cheers mate, definitely the way I'll be going I think, I use Castrol SRF Racing but it's gone up to about £70 a bottle so might try the less dear stuff! Definitely a set of uprated discs and pads on the cards so I'll look for them thank you 👍

Looks like a good starting point of a nice 924. Same year as mine. Sunroof shares the big relay with the radio, and there are two smaller relays by the motor which is located on passenger side of boot. Make sure sunroof drains are clear, and drain around the battery tray. If the battery tray rusts the water gets into the fuses and relays! Fully galvanised so they don’t rust as much as some of the other cars of that period. Main rust areas are lower rear section at bottom of front wings. Gearbox and rear suspension mounts are hideously expensive. Original fuel lines are steel and rust, particularly at the back -watch out for that. Great driving cars, enjoy!

Looking at the tyres they look just like the ones I had on the Renault 21 Savanna, I had Michelin tyres for the French car and because they are 1 of the best makes of tyres and I could order from Amazon.

Ino this is a old video but with all these cars you do you should invest in a color tune 500 there brilliant for fuel system diagnosis specially on these old type cars. I just use air compressor to get the Pistons outer calipers with something Infront before tho ​@@tastyclassics

Why do callipers seize up over time? It's because brake fluid is hygroscopic, and water is denser than oil - which means it falls to the bottom - and once brake fluid (oil) breaks down, it introduces both water and microscopic volumes of air (past the piston) into the system, causing the resulting water now in it to start rotting the steel piston... 😘

Hi. Do you still have the Porsche. Give us an update if so. I bought a 5 lug conversion with the brakes and all from a 1980 924 Turbo. I am about to do the 5 lug swap, I’m hoping it’s pretty simple. I have some cookie cutters from my 911 I’m going to put on it once swapped.

for that caliper, its probably just slow to release, so once you try it its free again. I have seen old rubber brake hoses swell, and they sort of act like a 1 way valve when they do that. Either that or gummed up piston not retracting correctly?

Also, We usually stay about 14 miles away from Nurburgring in Blankenheim, Hotel Schlossblick - it's on the main B258 Road from North West to South East. Blankenheim is quiet and serene - no English tourists, which is what we love. You can find delightful little B&B's there too, whilst you're there. We've also stayed in the Brusseler Hofchen. The old Belgian couple's B&B in the centre of the village. It is absolute heaven. Nearby Church bells ring every now and again, nearby. Blankenheim is a tiny village - I've stayed there about 6 times. Plenty of little B&B's to find once there, too. As long as it's not middle of summer you'll get something on spec...
