Get yourself a 2.8 special rear axle with the LSD and bigger drums, 2.8 servo and master cylinder High Spec 4 pot front callipers with 280mm discs if you’re sticking with 13 inch rims. Braided hoses also a must. All round poly bushes and lower it no more than about an inch. Some people also swear by rear axle braces

I own a black Capri Laser myself and think that’s the best colour. Therefore I’m going to say keep it black with original Laser decals on the outside and make it a sleeper. I got my wheels diamond cut with back inserts and it’s a huge improvement on the standard silver, especially on a black car. I’m interested to see how the engine conversion goes as it might give me ideas of my own!

but proper Capris had twin choke webbers fitted, well the 3.0 litre Ghia ones did anyway. Lasers were the very basic model. Only 2 models had the two exhausts, 3 litre, later 2.8, and the Dutch 2.3 v6.
@stevenmoran40602 ай бұрын
Aren’t the 2 inner headlights the main beam? One rear fog light is the legal minimum but 2 is better, especially as most of the times the manufactures only fitted a bulb on one side to save money, so you might just need to fit a 21w bulb. Safety is irrelevant if you can save 50p a car. Bit like new cars, no spare wheel but a can of rubbish that needs a pump to blow in the tyre. Only problem with that theory is with a hybrid that always start in electric mode, the ignition turns off after 30 seconds unless you are in drive. On your own impossible to use the “puncture kit”! Only took RAC 4 hours to turn up!
@stevenmoran40602 ай бұрын
Take the windscreen out and before you fit the new one it makes life easier for the body repair on the scuttle. I’d keep it in a Ford Laser oricolour but do the rear disc conversion and brake hoses so, the performance stuff. Makes the sleeper so much better until you press the go pedal and, Capris never had decent brakes ever. My 3 litre was rubbish on brakes, all you noticed was the bonnet dipping long before you felt any braking.

Great vid as usual Ben. Keep the Capri the original standard gloss black. Don’t bother with rear discs. I’m sure you know only 30 percentage braking done on rear wheels. The capri started off that deep metallic blue and due to a slight slip in the paint mixing room ended up more Cadbury's purple and there was some perl in it so we put the clear coat on thinking the perl would lift the blue but the next day OMG we was going to have to repaint...we sat it to fully cure and get a slot back in the paint booth, but sold it in the purple ish paint, a guy come in saw it with even the end caps off loved it !

I did this with the other side of mine. Had to take the door off and dismantle half the dash, so I've been here before. To be fair, X Pressed Panels are one of the better manufacturers. Ford formed their panels rather than forging them so theres always going to be a bit of fettling to get the best fit, as you said in previous videos, taking the time to get it right pays dividends. Of course, if youre going to putva better engine in it, make sure you uprate the brakes and maybe lower the suspension too. Caprisport of Didcot, run by Neil Crane Shepherd is definitely worth speaking to. Original mirrors are like hens teeth but you can get them. Even if I did have to make up one good one out of two.....less good ones.
