This is the fifth installment and long-overdue installment in what Rudy hopes will be a two-week project to reupholster the original cracked leather dashboard, center console, and instrument pod in "Risky Business", our $4,000 1985 Porsche 928S project car.
The challenge is to get all of this done in time to have the car back together and properly sorted in time to attend our local get-together on "928 Day" quickly coming up at the end of September.
In this fifth installment, Rudy takes you through the process of removing the cracked, original leather dashboard covering and then using a combination of dashboard repair filler and the thin dense foam supplied by Classic9 Leather to prepare the dash for the replacement skin.
Based on the instructions provided by Classic9Leather, Rudy shows how he carefully cut, stretched, and glued the vinyl cover to the repaired instrument pod using Dap Weldwood Contact Cement to bond the foam to the dashboard foam.
