Porsche 928 EV project / Removing the V8 (Ep.10)

The old Bastketcase Porsche 928 needs a lot of tidy up and weight reduction. Starting with the V8. Today it comes out. And I bid at auction for a crashed written off Tesla Model S. How exciting!

Don’t buy a salvaged Tesla sight unseen. Salvagers know the value of the battery and often remove modules and reinstall pack case !

Great project. Maybe I missed something but before stuffing the newly empty space in the front with a battery box keep in mind you will need space to install a steering rack.

The standard Porsche rack tucks beautifully underneath the cross member. But we do need a small electric power-steering pump and reservoir. Easy peasy.

Another great video. Really like how you are talking about all the aspects such as buying cars at auction etc. Great information for the newbies like me. How much would that Tesla have cost you including sellers fee and transport costs were included ? That needs to be factored in.

Thanks. Pickles Salvage Auction fees 15%. Transport across town about $180 if I can find a towie who's prepared to hang around a few hours while they find and fork-lift the car.

I think your mouse did you a favour there ! Also - if the MG swap will give you Porsche 928 performance, you could save yourself £10000 and do a full swap with what you've got. Do you really want a Porsche 928 that will do 0-100 in 3s and shred tyres every fortnight ?
