Nice progress Todd! Please invest in plating, the bling always looks nice when it goes back together😊

Hi Jeff, I would love to - but there isnt a company nearby that does it for a reasonable price. I'll have another search...

@ I got a diy kit from Caswell Plating. It generally works pretty well.

I'm doing this job on my 16 valve soon but I'm upgrading to the porken tensior. But there is one thing I've never understood, why the engine is turned to 45 degrees? I don't think any of the guides have explained this.

Hey, I did my 16v a few years ago, but the engine was out of the car so it was a lot easier. I believe 45 deg is the position where all of the vavles do not hang down in the way of the pistons, so you would be free to rotate the crank seperately to the cams. If you dont do this the pistons will collide/smash the valves should you need to rotate the crank. This is only relevant on later engines since the 16v engines are non-interference (meaning the valves cannot hit the pistons) Hope that helps.

Did you lock the cams in place? Did I miss it?

@rome288 lock the cams? Not heard of that…

@@rome288there’s no cam lock, which makes for some fun and games when the RHS cam is keen to spin back from the 45 position once the belt is loose/removed!

@stratfordade had me worried for a bit! Yes, I remember the rhs wants to turn…. I’m sure it will be fine :) I’ll make sure I turn it by hand a good few times
