Thanks for this. Could have used it when I swapped the tips in my 2014 981C. I’m sure others will find it helpful. I did put copper antiseize on the flange new bolts. I also chose to replace the gaskets. I’m pretty certain the flange nuts mounted to studs on mine and that they were not removable bolts.

The flange bolts were not removable on mine either. The workshop manual talks about knocking them out and replacing if required. Fortunately not in this case.

Excellent videos as usual. I need to swap my exhaust tips over prior to Porsche fitting a sports-exhaust. They say they won’t fit any parts not supplied by them but will refit anything that is there already…! Do you think that I’d need to loosen the exhaust manifold fixings on one side in order to just provide enough wiggle room to slip the tips off or would just loosening the retaining strap on one/both sides be enough? Thanks for all your hard work!

You could try, but I don't think you would have the room without loosing both sides at both the exhaust manifold and the strap. I'd also recommend removing the silencer so you could either replace the gaskets and clean the connections, as you probably won't get a descent seal, but if you are replacing the exhaust, I'm assuming Porsche will do this. A small time of a slightly leaking exhaust shouldn't cause too much of a problem as long as you aren't driving the car hard.

@@jeffrichardsoncardiy - Thanks Jeff. I’ve just ordered replacement gaskets as they’re not expensive - I am expecting Porsche to replace them again but as the PSE for the 981 is now built to order, there’s no date yet. Also ordered new torx screws/bolts for the clamps as mine are *nasty*!

So - started to try to loosen everything off to swap my tips over. The tip-clamp bolts were badly corroded but heat and patience finally freed them enough to swing the tip down… I then took a look at the upper clamp tube. I can’t even tell what size fixing they are(were!) - great chunks flaked off with just finger pressure. Can you remember? 10mm? Worst case - any suggestions on how best to to sacrifice them given the lack of space? Bumper off? Thanks once again.

I'd cut them off and replace or just fashion some yourself from a strip of gal steel and some galvanised screws. I can't remember what size, but I think M8. You should be able to have decent access with just the wheel off.

"Remove both nuts on the studs of the flange" it only it was so simple... they're so corroded, even after lots of PB Blaster and just maybe 30ftlbs of pressure from my wrench, the stud sheared off... would love to know if you have a good DIY method for removing those broken studs

Hey Jeff, thanks for all your videos! I am wondering if the two arrows in-between the coupling on the top pair of pipes of the exhaust need to be touching the coupling? When I touch these arrows to the coupling and rest the exhaust on the brackets - I am finding that the flanges end up not lining up between the exhaust and the manifold. It's off by about 1/2" and am wondering where the fitment misalignment is coming from. This channel has saved me thousands already, you're a lifesaver!

I'm not sure it will be too much of an issue if they don't line up exactly. My method of fitting is to put everything in place, tighten at the manifold, then ensure it's sitting nicely in the supports at rear left and right, then tighten down the coupling and tips. I just have the coupling and tips centered and don't much notice of the arrows.

Dear Jeff Any tips how to open the PSE flap that got stuck in the closed position? WD-40 does not help. Tried to turn the bolt using a hammer etc., no result.

I'm not going to be able to help you as neither of my cars has PSE and I've no experience with it.
