Love "real world' DIY videos....not everything goes easily. I'm working up the nerve to do this on my '09 Cayman Base. Thanks for sharing your experience!

good work and I will be struggling through as well because I am not a pro 🙂 I have a 987 5 speeds and gotta look under to see whether I need that special triple square thingy for the drain bolt....always different tools / specs for EU cars..

FYI - you're not meant to remove the bracing/under tray with weight on the wheels, that's why it was hard to get off/put on. They are structural. Your alignment will now be out. The car should also be level when filling for an accurate fill.

Thanks for the comment, that makes sense with the cross members. I did not notice any alignment issues but they may have still gotten off spec. For the fluid, I did raise the drivers wheel to make the car more level and I was able to make it level enough to get in about 2.8 liters.

Those are not structure, they're braces. ONLY suspension parts that move dynamically need torque underload. Otherwise just make sure the chassis is not twisted, like jacking the car from one side. It's funny how you would think the alignment would change because a few brace bars un torqued 🤣, if geometry is that easy to mess up, you'd better not hitting any bumps on the road.

Hello. Very nice video. I understand that your 987 is a 6 speed manual transmission, so 2.8 liters of oil needed. Also can you please tell me if there is any problems when taking off the aluminium panel and central pan since car is in inclination??? Thank you very much Chris

Hey sorry about the late reply. Correct its a 6 speed and 2.8 liters. I don't think there is any problem inclined, with load, or without load on those aluminum braces and central pan. They are not part of the alignment system - their effect would be very very minimal at most. I have seen people do both ramps or jacks/lifts.
