I love the Cayman S and hope to have a good used 2008 soon. I had a 914 back in the 80's. no comparison but it was a fun car.

Could you do more videos with this Cayman? There aren't enough videos of the 987 these days!

Thanks for watching and asking. My plan is to make some more in depth videos of me talking about each of the cars in my garage. Hopefully sooner than later, but thanks for the encouragement and suggestion! Anything in particular you would like to see or know about these cars? I will try to cover it when I do them.

I'd like to see some canyon runs with a nice mic setup and a good camera angle so we can get a feel for the sounds of the car. There are a ton of videos like this for the 981 but none for the 987.

Hey, great choice! I did a basic modification on on the airbox which opens up the airflow and is called "desnorkeling". Easy to find how to do on most porsche forums. I also use a high flow K&N Filter E 2295 that is about 60 bucks. These mods add maybe 5-10hp on a good, cold, day ;^) I also like the IPD Plenums for a subtle mid to upper rpm horsepower gain .

Great videos. Is there a distinguishing difference between the driving experience of your Boxster vs the Cayman?
@qikqbn778 жыл бұрын
+sungod1976 Some thoughts on the Cayman from my website... "Although the Cayman technically is a hard top Boxster, it feels like a unique car to the Boxster. The size, power and weight balance are very similar, but the rigidity and hard top offer a unique enough driving experience that it feels a lot different. The boxster is precise and confidence inspiring, but the Cayman just adds another 10-15% more precision due to its rigid body. The hard top also adds a roomier feeling inside along with a really nice engine sound bouncing off the rear hatch. You do feel more precise control, due to less body flex, going through quick switch backs in the canyons. It puts a mega smile on your face when driven hard. It just keeps impressing me with more and more grip and feedback through the steering wheel. Just when I think I am pushing it to its limits, the Cayman answers back with more grip then I expected and balanced composure through tricky back roads in the canyons. I find myself laughing many times by the adrenaline rush and the realization of just how high the performance levels are in this amazing car. "

+sungod1976 To follow up my Cayman response.. On The Boxster side there is a wonderful driving experience the Cayman can not match and that is the Open Top experience. Although the Boxster may not be as precise there is an over load of other senses that makes up for it. On a perfect sunny day with the top down in the Boxster you can enjoy the sounds of the car bouncing off the canyon walls in all sorts of directions, not just out the side windows. You also realize that it is less about shear precision and much more about feeling of freedom to to explore the sights and sounds rushing around you as you head down your favorite roads. The Boxster on it's own is still an incredible driving car and when compared to anything else out there is still one of the best handling cars. I would even say a tad more comfortable in certain situations because it is less rigid than the Cayman. Either Car is an amazing handling machine and good for the soul. My answer is that it's hard to say which is better, because that becomes a personal preference choice. They are both so good that it really comes down to how you will use the car and whether you live in an area where you can enjoy the top down experience more often or if you prefer a bit more precision.

quick question - is this the stock/base suspension? or PASM? not sure how "crucial" the latter is, if the base one is already so good...
@qikqbn778 жыл бұрын
this has the stock suspension and it is really good as it is set up from the factory. offers really good ride quality yet can be really aggressive in the canyons or at the track a really great compromise . the one thing is that the ride height is a little on the high side and the pasm does lower the car about half inch. I think the stock suspension is great but Pasm is a nice option because you can have a little bit of the best of both worlds by stiffening up the suspension at the push of a button and the car does look a bit more aggressive with a lower suspension. either way you go I think you will be very happy with the handling.

have u thought about getting a 981? or what are ure thoughts on the new model?
@qikqbn778 жыл бұрын
+jkrogstad5 I love all Porsches. Porsche owner for life... They are all special and a joy to drive. Over the years and After driving so many of them you start to realize something. Each model has something special about it. Even the 20-30 year old models have something special about them that the new ones can't match and vice versa. I also realized with my 98 Boxster the way it is set up now and driving a newer 981 model boxster s, that besides the newer body panels and nicer looking interior, the joy of driving either mid engined model through the canyons and the way they handled was very similar. There are obvious upgrades to the newer models and I love the new interiors, but I felt the same way after driving my Cayman S vs the 981 Cayman S. The newer models feel newer, tighter and a bit faster at the top end, but not enough of a night and day difference in the joy of driving department that I felt I needed to buy the newer model right away. Some day I am sure I will upgrade, but I am very happy for now and ok waiting for prices to come down a bit more before I do that. In the mean time I still really enjoy the Cayman S I currently own. Either model is a real joy to drive!

Hi, Gotta say love your Videos big fan! Anyway, I make compilation videos where I take clips from other videos add some information and then play music over them. I was just wondering if I could have your permission to use 20 seconds max of this video. Obviously, the link will be in the description and all credit will be rewarded to you.

Stock exhaust?
@qikqbn778 жыл бұрын
+Phillip Berk Yes, stock exhaust... Interesting how from inside the car and driving through canyons the exhaust sounds quite different. It's a combo between a whoosh and a wail. Yet, After making this video I was surprised by how much this exhaust sounds more like a turbo charged car whooshing as it drives by... Like the sound of some after market exhausts better and being more raspy, but for daily driving this is still a nice exhaust.
