It’s amazing how much bigger the GT3RS is than the 4RS! Inasmuch that I prefer a smaller footprint vehicle, I’d lean towards the 4RS. Coming from a former 991.1 GT3…. In conclusion, you can’t lose with either choice. P-car FTW.

Great summary! Two amazing machines. As a non daily give me the sound and experience. Surprised the 3RS is quiet. Assume a new exhaust and semi/solid engine mounts could fix that. Still think 4.0RS is the pinnacle (dream car) of the 911 platform. Looks wise the 992 3RS nailed it!!! Best looking 911 to date. Wish it came with a manual. Would take the reduced spec numbers for the enjoyment of rowing gears.

I agree the 992 GT3 RS looks amazing. You need to be careful when adding aftermarket parts to such an expensive car. It can impact on your warranty.

@888MF would love to see a comparison between the 997 GT3rs 4.0 and the GT4rs. Vehicle metrics are very comparable, in both size and hp. Obviously PDK vs Manual and Rear vs Mid engine layouts. Would be great to see the GT4rs comparison to one of the Porsche GOATS!!!

GT4RS is for sure the better road car as it can carry luggage for the weekend getaway with your sweetheart❤ I wouldn’t even consider a GT3RS for an overnight road trip. Maybe the GT4RS will prove to be a better investment also, as the 992GT3RS will be bettered by the 992.2GT3RS, whereas the GT4RS is a one-off and maybe even future Carrera GT and 918Spyder material. On sound alone the GT4RS is the car to choose.

@@csllover because the GT4RS has been out for a year already and the GT3RS is just hitting the streets, and is a more expensive car to begin with. As I said, just wait until the 992.2GT3RS launches. Then the values of the 992.1GT3RS inevitably will come down. There won’t be a 718.2GT4RS. We’ll talk more in 10yrs time. Remember where you heard it first😉

Bar the Porsche hyper cars, the GT4 RS is the best Porsche sports car with midship engine which is a tried and tested sports car format. There is nothing in between both cars with GT3 having marginal track advantage due to the downforce but they are both fantastic track focus cars but the GT4 RS being my preferred option, a sports car must evokes emotions and that’s what the GT4 RS does in ample.

We had 3 hours to film both cars and give some feedback. That had to include drone shots, B roll, Static B roll and photos. This was a road review and the key points were that the GT4 RS is louder, more fun at lower speeds and probably the better road car. Both suffer from hard suspension and best suited to the race track.

My buddy has a GT4RS along with multiple GT3s, tho not a new GT3RS, along with 23 other Porsches. In his opinion, peak GT3 was with the 991.2. He claims the GT4RS is magic and likes it more than ALL of his GT3s.

Nicely filmed and spoken. Two great cars. One is a lot more money than the other but while the GT3RS beats the GT4RS in 0-60 mph (just), the GT4RS is faster 0-160 mph if that matters. Most of our driving will be at normal speeds and I am very happy with the fun the GT4RS provides. I am sure the GT3RS is next level tech brilliance. The roll cage in my GT4RS does not interfere with rear visibility, but the wing does block the centre of the window.

The 991.2 GT3 is a good car but feels old once you step into a 992 GT3. I prefer the 981 Spyder for a fun drive.

I think you'll find a lot of people will agree with you - I have found the 992 series disappointing and luckily kept my 991.2 GT3 RS. I know a number of people that very much regret moving on from their 991.2 GT3 Tourings. Porsche got a lot right with the 991.2 GT series cars - in terms of looks and interior. I hate the haptic and very tacky glossy touch controls all over the 992 - they look like something from a Haval. I would take the 718 (982) GT4 RS over either the 992 GT3 or 992 GT3 RS.

@BHP nails it with the comments about noise in the GT4RS... I don't mind loud cars, loud exhaust on many of my Porsches. But the 4RS just rattles my head when you keep it in that 6,500-9,000 rev range (which you have to do when you want power out of the NA engine). For me, it was a huge turn off. GT3s with aftermarket exhausts don't bother me in the slightest, but I'd get out of the 4RS after an hour or so of mountain twisties and be done instead of wanting to turn around and do it again...

I just drove down to Goodwood for their breakfast meet in the GT4 RS. The journey down with empty roads was incredible. The journey back through traffic wasn't much fun. As long as you have a daily driver the GT4 RS makes a great weekend car.

Obviously what I’m about to say has no bearing on the driving capacity of both these superb vehicles but your intro discussing the rear wings and rear visibility, do not understand why the rear view mirror is not a switchable camera … all this advanced new tech etc yet issues which are avoidable …… I think both these vehicles are for track use but would not say no to either !! Great content ….

@@888mf4, many don’t distinguish the difference but I specialized in Powertrain & Vehicle Sound Quality for a bit and induction on the inside is better than what comes thru from the exhaust. I’ve not driven or ridden in a GT4 RS but everyone seems to think it’s a bit over the top. I drove an A it’s Integra Type R for twenty-one years so I may like the sound.

I think for the road a 718 GT4 is a great car, especially with the PDK gearbox. The GT4 RS is a lot louder so that may not appeal to everyone!

I haven’t driven the GT3 RS but my guess is that the GT4RS is the better road car. Although it’s pretty stiff. It likes smooth roads. It does great at COTA but no so good at MSR Houston due to how stiff the suspension is

The GT4 RS is set up for the track so is fairly hard on UK roads. I think the Spyder RS will fix that problem with a slightly softer set up.

For the 'average' driver, as in the non regular track day driver... is the GT3RS too much car. I had a 2016 GT4 (manual) and had so much fun in it as it was enough car, i could have more fun than I could handle in a GT3.

It depends on whether you want a daily driver or a weekend car. If you need a daily driver a 718 GT4 with PDK is perfect. If you want a weekend car the 718 GT4 RS is amazing.

It’s amazing how Porsche are successful in fine tuning those cars to match petrol head needs ,,,, as owner of 991.2 GT3 and GT4RS I would like to share my comments . The suspention of both cars are about the same yet I feel the GT4RS chassis is stiffer and better planted , on hi speed it does provide more confident specially the front suspention and steering wheel feel. Concerning the noise level , I do own Toyota Yaris GR and at a speed of 110 km/h can’t have a decent conversion with next passenger or Bluetooth telephone call while in GT4RS you can do that as long RPM is below 3,800 ( at that level you are speeding around 165 KM/H )

As GT4RS owner I agree, as long as the exhaust valve don't open or the induction noise don't kick in it's pretty decently quiet for a daily to drive, reminds me of my GTS Cayman tbh.... but difference between it and other Caymans is the induction noise and exhaust

My insurance covers me to drive any car with fully comprehensive insurance and insures anyone over 25 to drive any of my cars. But it ain't cheap to get that cover.

992 GT3 RS looks like it was designed by engineers, its not great looking. Much prefer the GT4 RS. Try the 992 GT3 RS on country B roads and it will disappoint. The two peak GT3 RS are the 991.2 GT3 RS and 997 4L GT3 RS. The 992 GT3 RS is too stiffly sprung more than 50% up over GT4 RS/992 GT3/991.2 GT3 RS.

I received my 4RS but not run in yet. I only had it to 4k rpm and the noise is like being in the belly of a breathing dragon. Ive not experienced anything like it before. The gear change too is incredible. Cant wait for the run in. Im also told that the noise over 7k rpm need ear plugs. Even with a helmet on. Question is... Im not sure I could ever sell this as Cayman going electric. Well if theres a manual 4RS that would tick the sell box :-)

I can’t imagine you would want either one of these cars for the road , I’ve not driven a GT4RS but have driven the GT3 . If I did track days more often it might be a consideration , but as a daily drive I’ll keep my 992 Turbo S .

I am not sure about values. I know the GT4 RS initially had a £100k premium so would make sense to insure it for £100k over list. I don't work with any insurance companies so can't recommend any.

Loudness is indeed a factor, that's why i have noise cancelling headphones in my glovebox. After some hours of driving it starts to annoy you and then it's a blizz to put them on. Stiffness is not that much of an issue imo, i am always surprised when that comes up. I own a 997 3.8 RS and it's close between the two. The 997 would win easily if the gearbox wouldn't be that notchy...

Why is it that McLaren have three settings for suspension and Ferrari have a bumpy road setting? The Porsche GT4 RS only has stiff or stiffer. Before you say McLaren isn't a track car, think about the 765LT and Senna.

@888MF that's a solid counter point 888 but the answer is, porsche RS models have always been the most track focused hardcore versions of n/a 911s ever produced, they have never tried to accommodate anyone seeking a more comfortable ride setting ever hence my criticism of the stiffness comment. It's counterintuitive to expect any gt rs porsche model to be anything other than stiff sir.

​@@888mf4Bro Porsche won't give you that NA flat 6 without making sure it can perform and last if you get into Launch Control after just 100 miles lol I bought so many Porsches and have GT4RS and I can say just follow the standards recommended by actual engineers who say better keep it easy first 200-500 miles but try to go a bit higher and higher on revs as time goes, then when you feel like everything settled and car is hot go even near red line, one thing is recommended not to do until break in done is Launch Control as it adds too much stress on components not only engine/gearbox Near 1000 miles is just too much, my previous GT2RS I took it to race track at 700 miles lol

When you go above 7000rpm it can be very loud, but no need to wear noise reducing ear plugs. You do need them when you go in an Aston Martin Valkyrie.
