I was trained to be fanatical when ever working on brakes. I’ve done quite a bit of brake work in my lifetime and know where I can “ cheat a little “ With this Porsche “ cheating “ would not even be a consideration. As soon as I heard those brakes squeaking I would have been turning around and heading back to the shop.Having said all that I totally understand the cost of doing brake work on these cars . Glad to see you were able to have some fun and get back to safety . Thanks for sharing 👍

@@rickjohnson1632 Mate if you think that brake noise is not normal, then you dont know what you are talking about, sorry. Some brake pads/rotors have their own sound, you just dont hear that in modern cars because of comfort. In this case, the master brake cyl. is in no way connected to the noise the rotor and pads make when braking...
@Chris675R3 жыл бұрын
@@--LZ--- The squeaky noise is mostly because of aftermarket brake pads made specifically for the track and like you said, at no point a indicator that something is wrong with the brake cylinder. My GTI TCR squeaks like freight train, because of the mounted RSL 29 brake pads 😆

@@Danksta911 I'm not sure. I think the extra slowing for the traffic was a big addition to the heat and also then cruising slowly with low airflow for ten to twenty seconds was the thing that took the brakes over the edge. Is my view. Glowing hot discs and no airflow transfers the heat through the calipers to the fluid real bad. I remember doing a track session then putting on the handbrake in the pits. Next session out of the pits and zero brakes at the first bend. The handbrake had transferred the heat from the pads and discs to the fluid. Brake pedal went to the floor. The car rolled as the speed into the bend was far too high and the car was then scrapped.

I had very similar brake failure on my Unimog hauling about about 20 ton of bales down the field up to a sharp turn right before a ditch. To make it worse the handbrake cable snapped and the trailer did not have air brakes (very old trailer, only for field use), Luckily i had just enough time to slam it down a few gears and brake on the engine. Later it turned out the master cilinder was leaking internally and the brakebooster didnt fully release when letting go of the brake. Having no brakes is definetly one of the scariest things that can happen. Very glad you also made it out of this situation unscathed!

@wallymcguire20333 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. I live in a Northern country and drive frequently in snow. I can’t wait for a storm so I can go drifting. I’d rather be sitting back farther and have my arms more open to freely whip the steering wheel around when getting sideways than getting jammed up from sitting too close. There are benefits to having a more open driving position. If you only ever drive on asphalt and experience being sideways occasionally, you may not realize the benefits of having your arms being more free for when you’re constantly sideways in snow and dirt. It also applies to the road.
