Porsche 996 GT3 RS once a Top Gear Star

Porsche 911 996 GT3 RS was built as an homologation car to go racing, the very first GT3 RS was never intended to become a permanent addition to the range. And then people drove it. Despite the fact that fewer than 120 came to the UK and only 680 were built in total, the reputation it went on to develop meant the future for the GT3 RS was assured.

Drove a 996gt3 rs and although I have driven newer and faster 911s, none come close to matching the feedback and purity of that car. Soooooo rewarding and fun to drive.

A brilliant car. I had a 996.1 GT3 Club Sport with a few minor mods including a Manthey K400 kit boosting power to close to 400BHP. Brilliant car and much missed. Really love the RS.
