2nd gear popout has zip to do with hard shifting. its a shim stack issue. coolant pinning is every bit as good as welding doesnt require a tear down and new glue compounds will outlive the owner. oil burn is typically a check valve issue or turbo seal not valve guides. these guys have no real idea what to do with a 996 turbo.
@g50cab7 жыл бұрын
I have a 2003 Turbo that I absolutely love - I agree with five - but if you have 2nd gear synchro issues - the car may have been abused- the G96/50 is generally regarded as very robust - as these cars age - I'd put the spoiler hydraulics as #1 - then #2 would probably be leaky front radiators from getting leaves and debris clogged up #3 being leaking [original] boost hoses (and free HP when you replace) #4 clutch - leaking accumulator #5 diverter valves - just my version

My 996 Turbo used .6/.7 Quart every 1K mile since the day I bought it in 2004 and never had any problem. It's normal for these engines. About 2 years ago I changed the wing hydraulics and IMO it's just a bad design. Apparently the replaced unit had some changes from the original design but that thing shouldn't be done like that. It was a $3000 repair but I hate the fix wing.

4:40 "make sure the wing if functioning properly" ... ?? .. if so, IT WILL BREAK, they all do. Better to buy a car with a broken one, get a discount, then replace it with a fixed wing or electric lift unit. 5:40 pin the coolant lines .. can be done without dropping the engine, far cheaper than welding. Most cars will NOT leak, biggest risk is blowing out a fitting while tracking your car (high heat stress usually required) ... pinning prevents blowout. The guy here favors welding, because he shelled out thousands to have someone do it, LOL. LASTLY ... Oil Consumption??? ... nope, not happening with my 996TT, nothing inherent there.

@ECPP5 жыл бұрын
Hi, first thanks for watching. Why do you want auto ? Lots of atop and go where you live ? Either way the auto box is quite reliable i these cars, but I have driven the manuals and that would be a better solution or if you can afford a newer car with the PDK then you can drive it like an auto but can also shift your own gears when you like with the dual clutch transmission.
@gabrielesartori33085 жыл бұрын
There is only one reason for the tip, if you do heavy mods over 650HP (I saw 996 with 900hp) but overall it's a slow gearbox compared to manual or modern auto.
@davidkellogg91764 жыл бұрын
No, there's Not only one reason for a Tip or PDK. My wife loves to drive and she's recovering from a stroke. Without a cooperative and predictable left leg, driving a manual is neither safe nor feasible. As a fellow car enthusiast, would you want to deprive a person of the pleasure and privilege of ownership and the thrill of driving a Porsche?

So how much 959 is in a 996 Turbo? I see a 959 when I squint at a 996 Turbo. AWD and those big ole' rear air scoops dont hurt either. So how much?

Really vey little other than the pedigree. 996 has similar power with liquid cooled heads and twin turbo but 996 has larger displacement and a better AWD system and gearbox.
