The 997.2 GTS is the perfect 911. I daily mine, and push it hard at Circuit of The Americas on a regular basis, driving for fun, instructing and giving thrill rides to others. Tremendously capable, robust and reliable high performance cars!

Great video as always & fantastic car! I am biased however, having purchased my first 911 2 years ago - a 2011 997GTS. Brilliant car & did a European trip in it last summer to the South of France taking in the Col De Turini - epic drive!

Great vid as ever, really got my juices flowing to get out on a track day this year. Did you have any tyre scrubbing bobbles or issues with your tyres when you got back and had a look at them? 🤔 Interesting your view on the GTS though as I think those who have them think they have a GT3 🤫😉👍🏼

Great vid! Does the different sump have more baffling for track use?

Enjoyed the video, we have a white manual GTS. Body coloured console and black shark fin decals are not standard equipment, latter looks good, not sure on the former in white.

I was surprised to see how high the oil temp was whilst on track, my 997 is never that high even when on track during the summer

hi there. I have followed friends green since the beginning. only now do I need your advice. how do I change a wheel bearing on a centrelock wheel - how do I remove the centrelock lock within the hub. thanks in advance cheers

Understand what you’re saying about where the GTS fits on the street-track car continuum. If you were going to modify the GTS to be more track-worthy where would you start? The car has good power and brakes so most likely the suspension. Throw in a roll bar, proper seats and harnesses…there you go.

The subtle upgrades mentioned in the video would be highly beneficial for a track day: performance brake pads, braided brake lines and high temperature brake fluid. Next, a high quality after-market coil over suspension set up would be of benefit on track.

They hold their value extremely well I bought mine a year ago for 77k an got offered near 90k by carmax. I have 32k miles on mine they are rare relativity speaking especially with a 6 speed an coupe body style.

Greetings from Detroit, another great video, thanks much. Can you convert Porsche center lock wheels to traditional 5 lug??? Would be so much better for both the home mechanic and track enthusiast imho.
@friendsgreenporsche52342 жыл бұрын
Hi Douglas. Thanks for your comment. You can convert to the conventional 5-bolt set up, but it would involve replacing all four hubs and wheel bearings. It would be cheaper to purchase the centre lock removing tool and the hefty torque wrench required to achieve the correct torque. You do see the odd GTS with a 5-bolt set up, as it was possible to spec without the centre locks. I hope this helps.

Hi love the car what was that song

I understand the center lock in a pure racing scenario but other than that is there any benefit I am missing?? Other than looking cool.
@friendsgreenporsche52342 жыл бұрын
No, there is no benefit on a non-racing car.
@jimgraves6652 жыл бұрын
BTW the GT3 does not necessarily have a center lock wheel/rim

I thought I heard that the GTS has GT3 brakes? Or am I smoking rope?
