The 997 is is my opinion the best looking 911 ever together with the wide body 964. I never liked the looks of the 993 and 996. I’m warming up to the 991, but ever since the 991 these cars have become so large in size and that’s not what the 911 was about back in the day. It was about small, lightweight and fast. The 997 is the last 911 that just perfectly fits the role.

Excellent video Royd! Love hearing the sincere words of a true driving enthusiast. It is so refreshing to hear someone of substantial means who has not become jaded / distracted by the value of their vehicular ‘assets’. My guess is that there is a higher percentage of grounded people among Porsche owners than among other exclusive brands. “Who would want to play golf on a Sunday morning, when you can go for a drive?” - absolutely priceless and so true.

Another comment now 2024. Love this story. So relatable. Binned my Lava Orange 2016 GT3RS at the track with 88000 km. About 50/50 road and serious track driving. Took a few years to get the Mrs to agree but now have an Agate Grey 991.2 GT3. Lots of twisty roads but track has been deemed off limits. My favourite would be a 991.2 GT3RS in Voodoo blue. Big thanks again for this vid.

perfect description... I own 997.1 RS and 991.2 RS... the ONLY time enjoying the 991 was enjoyable was on track, but the 997 is a TOTAL THRILL accelerating from 0-60 at 1/2 red line... IT'S SOOOOOO LOUD AND ENJOYABLE.

Oh my GOSH... this is scary... I actually traded my 991 for a SPECIALE... THIS IS FREAKIN SCARY. This guy is a car owner after mine own heart. THANK YOU for this confirmation. Sometimes I think of the 991... and how beautiful it was... and I really loved it... but... the 997 kinda made is BLAH after I bought it. GREAT review.

For me, 997 is the keeper for sure. Porsche just don't make cars like 997rs's anymore, but a 991rs could always be replaced with a 992 and I am sure the 992 would be faster and better.
