Yeah, winds me up when him and others do this. Like what do you expect it to be when loads of journalists have been thrashing the fuck out of it. It's exactly like doing a 0-60 but starting off in 2nd gear and not red lining. Drive it like Miss Daisy and you'll get good MPG, it's as simple as that. I do and get 75-80 in my 1.6 TDI.

I am a happy to own the previous model (981 Spyder) and must say I would never upgrade to the new 718 model. The 718 Spyder may have the GT4 chassis and 420 bhp, BUT the "old" one sounds SO MUCH BETTER! There is also a huge weight difference , almost 400 pounds!!! The 981 Spyder does the 0-62 mph in 4,5 seconds as on paper and he driving experience is on a totally different level without those stupid particular filters. Thanks Mat for another great review!

Porsche 911 GT3 RS To be honest..... yes. Yes it is. Not sure what they’re up to at the moment. No manual in the new 3, a 4 that looks like a slapped arse, a 7 with a face only its mother could love, an 8 that is a shadow of what the 8 concept set out, a Z4 that is squarely aimed at SLK buyers, a front wheel drive 1 and 2 etc etc. Sigh. All very disappointing to a long term serial BMW owner. I don’t know what’s left for me in the range now, apart from the M2 - which is, at least, fab.

I have just driven one of these around Scotland for a week with a pal. It was brilliant - just wish it was my car. You don't have to put the roof up when it rains as long as you are moving. The standard seats were more comfortable than my Audi A7! The roof does require practise to use. Forget all the hype about diffusers and ceramic discs it is just huge fun and astoundingly practical. I found this review when I was researching to buy one. Oh a good review by the way

Matt Watson , this car has a type of launch contol. I think Its actually the soft limiter that holds the revs at 5krpm then you drop the clutch. Sport Plus , Traction off , Clutch in , Accelerator full in , Drop Clutch. No need to manually control your revs. That should give you the best launch possible. Thats why you got 4.7s

I drove one yesterday and really i had more fun in it than my m3 and the Lamborghini performante I drove. I literally smiled the whole time driving it....I haven't been in anything better than it and I've been in Ferraris, Mercedes, Audis, BMWs, Lamborghinis, GTRs, McLarens, and thats it but the Boxter/cayman has a special place in my heart. I'll probably be buying one the Boxter GTS 4.0 or the Boxter Spyder we'll see how long I'll need to wait for Porsche delivery for each.

The roof is not that complicated. You don't have to flip up the sides before lifting it up. If the buttresses were clipped in properly you would not have had to move them out of the way.

I've got a 718 Boxster (not S) as a courtesy car right now. Other than the engine, it's a complete blast. It's not that the car is slow, it's just a bit agricultural. The engine is not smooth and makes almost diesel-ish noises. But every other aspect of the car is brilliant. In fact, the 6-cylinder GTS is on my shortlist for next car and I've never considered a convertible before.

@Seki I think the 996 aged really well, it's still very modern and fresh. A 993 looks like a car from a totally different era, it's charming but almost vintage. The 996 on the contrary is a lot more modern and it seems recent. I also find it very beautiful. Up to the 993 the 911 had a very square design, the 996 on the contrary has softer lines that make it really pretty in my opinion. Buying one these days is a bargain!
