I am very limited on mechanical skills, and this video helped me sail right thru it as a DYI project! Jotted down the tools you stated while watching your video, went out and had it done in about an hour and a half. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your help with this video, I just replaced the tank on a 2005 Cayenne S 4.5 V8 and the only difference is the vacuum part isn't there. Thanks again.

Hey Dan hope all is well today i saw some coolant leaking by the passenger side I'm assuming the it's the tank my question is we don't need no special to te take the air out of the system ? When. We go fill it back up with coolant ?

Great stuff again. How did you identify that it was the coolant tank leaking? I recently did the metal tee upgrades, pipes, etc... After getting it all done I accidentally overfilled the coolant tank. Took it for a spin and I was leaking coolant on the passenger side with liquid ending up as far as the the air filter box. I pulled and held 23 lbs with my Airlift purge/refill tool after adding back the coolant. I'm wondering if maybe it is my coolant tank possibly. I can't quite find where its coming from.
@DIYDanCars4 жыл бұрын
I had evidence of dried up coolant all around the tank, plus I had coolant magically disappearing.
@michaellines41724 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDanCars Thank you for the reply. I ended up removing the coolant tank and still couldn't see exactly where it was leaking on the tank. After adding some little scraps of hose to each connection and essentially sealing them off with a plug and worm gear clamps, I used a Univeral Radiator Coolant Pressure tool from Harbor Freight to add some air pressure to the empty tank. It was leaking on the seam that runs horizontal all the way around the middle. I probably didn't need to go this extra step but I had the tool to pressure test it. Thanks for the great videos. I have probably saved $4,000 in labor so far in 3 years of ownership watching your videos.

@@michaellines4172 Wow! I'm surprised you didn't see any chalky white substance around the tank -- that's what dried up coolant looks like. Good job on finding the leak and saving yourself some cash! Good to hear my videos are helpful and always happy to help!

Thanks for sharing Dan. What were the symptoms that tell you your tanks were kaput?
@DIYDanCars4 жыл бұрын
No problem! There are a couple of obvious symptoms. The first one would be having to constantly top up the expansion tank with coolant, and the other is the smell of burning coolant. Hope this helps!
@spikerama4 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDanCars ok. Well I haven't had my 2006 Cayenne that long but I just checked the coolant and looks to be below Min. Don't drive it much so haven't noticed any sweet smell but I will top up and see what happens. Saw your other vid on replacing the Tees. Hope I don't have to do that. Thanks again for all you share. I've learnt a lot from you. Love your channel.
@DIYDanCars4 жыл бұрын
@@spikerama Thanks Dave! I appreciate the kind words. I would do just that. Top up the coolant and see if it falls below the min mark again. If it does, I would start with the coolant tank because they are known to go bad quite often. Keep in mind that only the Cayenne Turbo has coolant Ts, and the rest of the model lineup does not. Good luck!
@spikerama4 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDanCars Ah ok. I didn't know that. Mine is just the V8 S so no Ts then. See? Still learning! Cheers mate.

How did the Amazon reservoir tank hold up?
@DIYDanCars3 жыл бұрын
So far so good. I think the Porsche branded tanks and the cheap tanks are all made at the same factory.

I didn't see you put water in the expansion reservoir. Only coolant??

Dan, I just purchased a 05 Cayenne Turbo, owner said the T's and Coolant pipes were converted to metal. However after only 3 days I got a low coolant warning. I filled the coolant and its leaking down the passenger wheel well. I don't see any leaks from the coolant tank. If it's leaking on the passenger side is that a sign it's the coolant tank?? What signs did you notice it was the tank? Or do you think its a bigger job?

Mhmm I have the same side of the leak, but it’s water, mhmm okay later I saw actual coolant drop siting still, so it is leaking coolant, what if it can be the water pump ?
