Dean Word comments below re: 2011-2018 (958?). Very true. No way that 65#, H-8, AGM battery can come out by just tilting the seat. I could not get it onto the back seat but was able to roll it onto the console and into passenger seat. Seats these days are very heavy! Several tabs holding the carpet had to be cut then I clamped the carpet section to the console. Also I used a spare battery connected to the jumper points under the hood to save the memory. Remember how easy a battery swap used to be?

You are correct, I had to take the seat out to be able to get to the battery. It wasn't even the weight of the battery, the seat was prohibiting the battery to clear to come out.

Thank You for posting this video - very helpful. I was able to use a Torx T50 bit in leu of the 10mm Triple Square bit to remove the seat mounting bolts. On a side note: I'd really like to know the name of the engineer responsible for mounting the battery under the powered drivers seat, and requiring the seat be moved fore/aft to access the latches and speciality hardware (10mm 12pt - triple square bit) to service the dead battery.... Probably the same person that invented the 12v electric fuel pump mounted Inside the fuel tank for cooling !!! Arg.

Thanks. Porsche says that the QR-Code of the battery needs to be added to the car, so that the car will sense that the battery are replaced. They said that the reason is that if the battery gets bad, it closes som functions to save the battery- and these functions that are turned off need to be restored. I cannot find anything of that information in the videos I have looked at so far. Does anyone have any information about that?

2011-2018 is more challenging. Seat held by 4 bolts - 2F, 2R. Unplug seat harness and move seat onto rear bench. Battery carpet cover will not flip open without further minor cutting with utility knife along score line. A 9mm hex wrench will work if you don't have the 10mm spline. Be careful.

I met a guy yesterday and he said to replace the battery it would cost $3100 (either a cayenne or macan). I have no idea why they charge so much for a battery and to install a battery. He said they cut him a break and didn't charge him the $500 fee for installation. What am I missing? Why so much?

As I don't know the extent of what you are dealing with, I can't give you perfect advice. But, that price seems quite steep to me (if in USD), so I would recommend checking with a different mechanic to see what they think.

Would it be possible to give us the dimensions of the battery? Some website says it'd fit a H7 and other website says it'd fit A H8 size (USA & Canada standard) Some say Cayenne S fits H8 but Cayenne base model fits H7. Would Porsche make 2 different battery compartment for different models?

Hi - Thanks for watching! According to the information we currently have from BCI their are two O.E. battery group sizes used depending on the year. The Group 49 battery is Length 13 15/16" (353mm) - Width 6 5/16" (175mm) - Height 7 1/2" (190mm). The Group 904R is Length 12 7/16" (315mm) - Width 6 15/16" (175mm) - Height 7 1/2" (190mm).

If you don't have an OBDII memory saver to use prior to replacing the batter, can you run a jumper cable from a spare 12v battery to the posts in the engine bay...while taking extra precaution to not let the positive battery wire ground out on any metal?

It’s because they crammed too much crap into too small a space under the hood. The engineers don’t have to work on it so they don’t care. How about an Audi rs4 V8? You have to drop THE ENTIRE ENGINE to do the timing chain. Hahahaha. I immediately stopped looking at them when I read that.
