The ignition on a Porsche is always on the left hand side due to it's racing heritage. The idea is that in a race, the driver has already started the car before he even jumps in his seat, rather then getting in then starting it. Can I have a bonus point? lol

The point of it being on the left side is: When drivers had to start a race (I forget which series), they had to start out on foot with their cars parked. With the ignition on the left, the driver can put the car in gear with his right hand and start it with his left at the same time, making it quicker, instead of starting it with your right and then putting it in gear with your right had.
