Great Video! I am looking to bypass the bose setup, and fairly good with electrical work. Can you tell me, is the standard harness plug & the spiral bose plug into the loom the same? I will end up running new stereo outs, so hoping that I can just use the standard plug, for power etc and save cutting the factory harness Searched most of the internet and cannot find anyone who has held both - you are my unicorn! Again love the video, and appreciate any help

Hello, thank you for putting this video together, I ran into the sam issue today, found out my Porsche is also with the Bose system and I ordered the harness. I ordered previously the same ATOTO CarPlay unit. Is there any way you can share a diagram (if you have or something) that shows how you connected all the wires with the crimp terminals?

Hey, thanks for this video. I have two questions: (1) how is the built-in mic quality for calls? Do you think there's any need to install an external mic? (2) Have you replaced the speakers on your car as well, any thoughts on that?

Hello my friend, Do you know what to do so that the radio only turns on when the car is started? I replaced it, but it turns on just by turning the key on and I think that will drain the battery faster. Please can you help me with your opinion.

You would need to find a power source that only comes on when started. I have mine so it will come one when the key is turned to accessory.

If I remember correctly I did. I do recall that some of the wires were labeled incorrectly so you have to make sure that each is hooked up to the correct spot, not just the color.

Did you know you can change the boot logo to the Porsche crest? I installed this in my Boxster ( and two other cars because I like it so much!) let me know if you want the instructions. They are hidden within the unit.

Unfortunately, I had to go with a different wiring harness, so it became a mute point at the end. However, that harness is mislabeled.

Does SPP have same amount of speakers to the Bose system? As far as I know, bose has 11 speakrs and I was qurious if the SPP also have 11 speakers

Did you consider remove and replacing the Bose amp/speakers and fibre optics? My 06 Boxster S has the pcm2.1 with Bose. Given the age of the speakers and a failing amplifier I am just going to replace it all... Still researching what amp and speakers to use without spending more than I paid for the car!

The Torx screw head sizes are T25 and T30, not 27 and 20.

I am trying to replace my 2008 Porsche Cayman car stereo with a Carplay. All the fasteners are out, but the damn thing is not budging - no sign of it coming out. In fact, those black things on the top and bottom on both ends have come/fallen out (instead of just a 45 degree turn) cam lock pieces are broken. Any idea how to get the damn radio out?

Oh man. I hate to hear this. It sound like the fasteners are still in place but the unlocks have fallen out. You might want to set your phone on video recording and use it to see in places you couldn’t with your eye. Keep us posted.

How different would this be if I have the stock screen version with Bose? I have a 2006 Porsche cayman s but it has an iPod from the factory, an aux cord and of course the screen but it’s not Bluetooth unfortunately

That’s a great question. If you are talking about the official Porsche version, it’s much more plug and play.

I’m referring to changing out the factory Porsche screen to something else to I can use apple car play. My current one sucks since it’s from 2006 and keeps trying to play a cd randomly and stops my music.

I was told that they came with this from the factory but the original one got damaged so I went with the newer style from the newer caymans.

Hello John, thank you so much for the detailed video, I followed your instruction and was able to install the CarPlay and rear view camera on my 987 Boxster, just so you know I also have a Bose sound system, so the spiral audio harness worked pretty good, there is one problem that I am having right now and thought may be if you had a same issue or have the solution. My CarPlay/waze is keep switching to rear camera back and forth while I am driving. It will switch to rear camera automatically and then after few seconds or min it will come back to CarPlay/waze. It only happens when the car is in motion, but it does not happen when the car is in idle position. Do you know what could be the reason behind it?

That’s a great question. I have not had that issue but if I was a guessing person, I would venture that the reverse power is somehow getting power even when you aren’t in reverse.
