Hi! Doing same project for my 2007 4s, with Sony xav 6000. Questions: how did you physically connect the 12v constant, 12v switch and ground to the car? Did you use posi tap, strip wire then tap? You did not show this in your video. I’m new to this and would appreciate any help, thank you!
@NSXavier9978 ай бұрын
Hello. I ran the inputs from the head units wire harness to the appropriate terminals on the vehicles connectors behind the radio (constant 12v and ground) and to the connector by the passengers footwell (switched 12v). I did not cut or solder, but rather tinned the ends of each wire and just back-probed them into the connectors terminal receptacles. It’s not as secure as using a tap or cutting/soldering, but it prevents any type of hacking of the factory wire harness. I did not want to cut the factory harness at all.

With the installation of the updated SONY unit, did you lose any of the PCM OEM functionality?
@tobiasraya47255 ай бұрын
@NsXavier …. Nice work! question for you. Did you consider using Porsche’s new PCM upgrade, or the Kenwood, instead of the Sony you chose? What led you to chose the Sony? (price, power rms output, rca preamps for future amps subwoofers).
@NSXavier9975 ай бұрын
Thanks.. I considered the PCCM+ but just couldn't justify the price. Basic wired carplay and it has to be plugged in from the front. I chose the SONY because of the clean looking outer bezel.

Nice steering wheel, I have 997.1 with the MF steering wheel, still on the edge if I am willing to spend for modern one, but looks amazing. How do you see the upgrade from the previous one to this one? thanks
@NSXavier99710 ай бұрын
Anything is better than the factory 997.1 triangle wheel. Both visually and actual feel of it in your hands. The 991 steering wheel upgrade is definitely worth the cost.
@notabenex110 ай бұрын
@@NSXavier997 yeah, I agree. I have not the triangular one but rounded one. Would prefer smaller diameter also, but not sure 991's is?

@NSXavier9978 ай бұрын
It does have it. Can’t work without it. It’s not outlined in the video but the RCA cables are plugged into the most converter box and into the SONY head unit via “connector 2”. Connector 2’s location can be found in the head units operating manual.

Hey, one more thing, I see that you wired the neon green wire from the head unit together with the ground, why? Neon green is labeled parking brake..could you comment, please

So that the unit thinks that it’s always in park. This way the HDMI input can work all the time.

@NSXavier997 Жыл бұрын
Yes I would recommend the 997.1 platform. I’m not very well versed on the 997’s outside of the Turbo / GT3’s, so you’ll want to do some homework about engine specifics and reliability. I think some early 997’s Carreras were prone to the dreaded IMS failure.

@@ruicoelhoruic5678 not sure why you can’t see replies. No, I don’t think so. The amplifier has its own power source and is turned on with key on/ engine off, or engine run. The most converter box basically turns the RCA audio signal into a MOST signal that the amplifier can read and output.
