A huge thank you to Misha for this video. 👍🏼 Before he started recording he asked me to talk a little about the Golf. As usual I talked, a lot 😳. I expected him to cut 90% of it out as it was just me waffling. He left most of it in! The lap itself was very enjoyable and the Porsche driver had a good chat with me that evening. When I asked why he moved across before the Karussel, he replied "I was surprised to see you keeping up with me and rather than watch in the mirror I wanted to follow so I could see your car moving around" 😃 The Golf has been developed over the last 13 years from a bare shell with me learning along the way and modifying as budget allowed. Just to add to those who are saying the 911 was faster. I know, the Porsche could go quicker. We all know that ! It also costs way more than 10x the price the Golf has cost me and wasn't built by one guy in his garage so lets keep some perspective here 😉 As for Boba`s incredible MK2 Drag car, that`s built with one aim in mind and that`s to go as fast as possible in a straight line for a short period of time. Mine is built to go round a circuit for lap after lap and those goals are completely different. Put them on the drag strip and Boba would absolutely annihilate me. Put us on the Nurburgring and I'd be quicker. It's not rocket science ;) Oh and finally. The whine is the power steering pump that was failing and was replaced after this trackday and I usually leave the engine idling to cool after a lap but was distracted by Misha and turned it off too soon. Loads more details of the build and trip reports on my website www.pinderwagen.com

I must have watched a different video.. I see a maxed out golf 2, racing to the max and a few Porsches he overtakes and a few that keep being in front and behind him, probably not driven to the max and way more comfortable. That's not eating Porsches, that's winning a race without telling the others it was one.

@@rueazy it starts with a golf 2 costing around 1000 bucks, next to nothing. Parts and time+effort are the factor here, cost not so much.. but then again this is a Golf 2 and not a Porsche, nor will it ever perform like a porsche.

Car: Impressive, quite the feat of knowledge and engineering. Beautifully done. Driver: Phenomenal skills. This man is either a natural extension of the vehicle or the vehicle is a natural extension of himself. It's amazing to see someone who just knows their vehicle and where the limits of it are and how far they can push it. Great video. I was clinging to my seat watching this!

Old Greggs Creamy.....Not just the Brits, mate! Maybe it's our British heritage but Australia has the ULTIMATE back-yard builder, Ken Warby. Nothing comes close to this guy who set the world water speed record in 1978 with his backyard-built boat - a record that HAS NEVER BEEN BEATEN even thoughit is now 2020!!!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Warby "Ken Warby (born 9 May 1939) is an Australian motorboat racer, who currently holds the water speed record of 275.97 knots (511.10 km/h; 317.58 mph), set on Blowering Dam on 8 October 1978.' 'Warby designed the hull of his record-breaking boat, Spirit of Australia, himself and built it in his backyard.'

Damn! Thank you! I do love an Inspirational, Informative, and A-symmetrical buildograghy. I have a 1st gen Honda Accord. It is dropped and I am somewhere with roll-center, anti dive, and caster/camber perfection. I hope to have a 2.2 litre Volvo/penta diesel power plant installed, soon. Currently, the heavily modified, OEM drivetrain is still delivering impressive drivability and economy stats. Big thumbs up from backwater, Oregon USA.

I can relate to the accusump, I have a car that raced figure 8s. Not to be confused with a figure that runs in the areana at the fair, these are cars running very tight turns, up to a figure 8 made out of a 3/8 mile oval track, such as Colorado National Speedway. The accusump is an engine saver! We did set the car up for a banked 1/4 mile oval, and the tech person initially thought it was nitrous.

As the speed goes up the driving becomes smoother and makes more and more sense. Paradoxically, the car seems to become more planted on the road as the driving gets faster. As a spectator you get in the zone and start feeling like it's easy. Exceptional driving, exceptional car, fantastic video!
