The People's Court

The plaintiff bought a new car and brought the car to the defendant’s business for a repair. She claims the mechanic broke her seatbelt while her car was in for a different reason. Then, someone stole her fuzzy pink dice from her rearview mirror. She’s suing for damages. The defendant argues the mechanic took the dice off the mirror because it’s illegal to have them on, then left them on the seat. She doesn’t think she owes anything.

Also this company has lost their mind for agreeing to go to court this way instead of proper court with the necessary documentation and a representative who is aware of the situation as a whole. The office manager is totally clueless as to this case, which may not be her fault but man the company shouldn’t have chosen to represent themselves through her due to that fact

@@mrshappilymarried1 because the owner decides who goes and they’re sketchy and don’t want to be there with the mechanic which is how it should be. Why would they care to throw away someone’s dice? I don’t believe the “they placed them on the seat” bs, because I’m sure the mechanic didn’t care and just threw them aside in annoyance. I took my car to a dealership once to have some work done and get covers for my driving lights, and when I picked it up they had already put the covers on. I pulled them off and my driving lights had been smashed. I immediately went and got the service manager and pointed it out. They still asked if they were broken when I dropped it off and "That's why you wanted the covers". I told them that's absolutely ridiculous and to look at their video footage because they were not broken when I dropped it off. They ended up replacing them on their dime.

I always find it perplexing when owners or managers delegate representation to a third party who had no prior interaction with the plaintiff; it just doesn't add up to me. In this case, the defendant seemed abandoned, left to fend for herself as if she were thrown to the wolves without any protection. While the plaintiff presumably presented her case diligently, the judge couldn't properly question the defendant due to her complete lack of involvement. At the end, when asked by Doug what the owner/manager would think, she responds, 'He thinks it's wrong and they are not going to agree with it and they're going to be unhappy with it'. This begs the question: Why didn't he attend or send individuals who had interacted with the plaintiff? It's hard to complain when you fail to send the right representatives to defend your business in a favorable light.

He (the owner) didn't want to be on TV, and was confident if he sent his secretary/this woman (who knows nothing about cars, ev en something simple/trivial as knowing that in some cars usually sports cars and minivans and station wagons coincidentally, the battery is under the driver seat etc. so she's there for eye candy/to be pretty smh lol,) she would do the talking for him. Yeah no lol. He thought this was a wise decision, that turned out to be unwise, but yeah. lol.

Curious but doesnt the paperwork the defendant gets served with outline what they are suing for? $1 of fuzzy dice and $2499 for seat repair?

The plaintiff wants $300 for gas? Seems to me each time she went she had something else that was fixed, so why does she want the $300 (which seems high for even a few 50-mile round trips -- what does she get, one mile per gallon?) back. That's gouging.

The Defendant Is Just LOUD and WRONG! 😂😂 " The Battery is Under The Hood" Then She Said that's Why she Wanted to Settle Out of Court...As JM said If She Was Listening she would have heard what she said. It would have took a hour for the manager and Ed to show up...but they sent the Receptionist who clearly doesn't know cars 🤦🤦🤦🤦. Do better people 😂😂

Not the best witness and also, he talked way too much on the video instead of simply documenting the damage... All that extra commentary did not help. Made her claims less believable in terms of the timing of her complaints.

Manager, I don't know why he sent her/Defendant was worse, and sending basically this woman who didn't even know like something pre-k/kindergarten that some cars, (usually foreign cars, station wagons, minivans etc.) have the battery under the driver seat. Everyone knows that, I don't know anything about cars and knew that. I know dealerships sometimes hire eye candy receptionists, but at least these women know their cars. This woman is basically clueless and a model/there to look good smh lol.

But I also agree with Milian that there are some women that know their cars, and can even fix and repair cars etc. But yes ladies having your boyfriend/Husband go to car dealers/mechanics would probably be sound advice in some cases.

@taralen1101 True they can know but it's still in mechanics nature to screw women over. I think they take some kind of vow for it.

If I read the rule correctly, in California on a multi lane road, you can turn right on red while someone is turning left on green if you turn into the lane closest to the curb. Not 100% sure though.
