I’ve seen a few people with them on the ocean. Pretty crazy, but we need crazy people to test the limits of things.😊 Thank you for the video. Be careful with those crocs!!!

A well-done video. Taught me what I wanted to know about the porta-bote. The pool shot is a game-changer.

I used mine once! being older and not agile it was not easy to move around , (Better for the agile) anchor etc. Got back to the tinny as I do fish open waters when calm.

Enjoyed this😎Did you make your own cover for the porta-bote? Just bought an older 12’ porta-bote in Arizona , USA for lake fishing. Thank you for your video and time. Velesta and Vince from Alaska

Hi Vincent, we bought a length of ribbed fabric from a haberdashery store in Australia. The type of fabric used around the collar, wrists, and ankles of sweatshirts and track pants. We pull that over the boat as it's quite stretchy and tied off the nose end. We looked at SUP board covers but couldn't find one with matching dimensions. Hope that helps.

I have a 12' and I would take it long distance into the ocean with my setup. It just takes being cognizant of swells.
@korkeradventures-biglapnom16692 жыл бұрын
And thrust of the motor. Where we are currently the tides exceed 7m and our motor would struggle against tidal current. We’re just not comfortable taking ours out where there’s are current and swell issues to contend with, or large Salt water crocs.

Great boat! You think 10ft would be good for a solo traveler? For open water fishing, multi day shore hopping camping expeditions, etc.?

19’ is great for a single person. Planes beautifully with our 5.9hp 2 stroke engine with 1 person.

Great video! Thank you. One question @korkeradventures-biglapnom1669: where did you find the sock/cover you wrap around the hull before you put it on the roof?
@korkeradventures-biglapnom1669 Жыл бұрын
It's just a length of sweatshirt ribbing pulled over the bote. After 2 years it disintegrated. We've since bought a 12' Sup cover for our 10' Bote and there's plenty of room for the bote. Although we haven't tried it, it'd probably hold all the seats, etc too but we didn't want all that weight in one bag for lifting onto the roof of our LC200.

Hi Guys, great video! My wife and I are looking at getting one for our big lap. Are you still using your porta bote or have you gone in a different direction?
@korkeradventures-biglapnom1669Ай бұрын
We still have the Portabote but haven’t used it as much as we anticipated we would. When we have used it, we’ve loved having it. We’ve been reluctant in croc areas or when it’s quite choppy. A tinny with high sides would def be more versatile if you have the spare weight.

Was wondering where you got the cover for the bote from. Thanks
@korkeradventures-biglapnom16694 ай бұрын
The one in this vid is just a length of ribbing fabric like that used for collars and cuffs on windcheater jumpers. We then bought a 12’ Sup cover which is much better.

Hi , am thinking of buying the 10’ Porta note as I will moving into a unit eventually and won’t have room for a tinny . Was wondering how the boat stands up to occasionally running into underwater obstructions such as mangrove roots , rocks , generally floating debris ? Do you know what the hull is made off ? Would a 4 hp motor be enough for 1 person ? Thanks 👍
@korkeradventures-biglapnom16693 жыл бұрын
Hi, lm not sure of the exact material it’s constructed of, but it is sturdy. It will stand up to occasional knows and rocks easily. The ransom on out model is rated to 25kg. Our motor is a 2 stroke 5.8hp Parsun and it gets the boat planing beautifully. Other Portabote owners run smaller 4 strokes with great success. 4 Strokes are heavier so a lower HP motor would be needed. We use our PB with 2 large adults and all our fishing gear and safety gear. In all honesty, ld probably prefer a little more space so wish we had gotten the 12’.
