It has to do with Sony's marketing foresight for the Vita nowadays. They are selling it as a specialist multimedia player rather than a console, thus there's no reason for developers to program for it. It's a shame, especially when its hardware is close to iDevices/Smartphones it might not be hard to program something for it. Sony is selling so few Vitas that it is rumoured that the LCD screens for the handheld are being used for the manufacture of the Xperia E4 instead.

I got that Zelda game about five minutes before it was taken off of market or whatever. At least, my bro told me I had about six minutes to get the game if I wanted it. I casually skyrocketed off my bed, ran around the house for a minute looking for my 3DS, and downloaded it XD I've actually never been able to play a Zelda game before. That's why I was so excited to get it for free.

The Gaming Paladin 3DS success is starting to decline, but still it was one of the most successfull handheld devices ever. I'm too lazy to check and cite software or hardware sales, but your irony is not on the spot here. 3DS really don't need any more customers, it had/have it's customers and it made so much profit that nintendo will easily pull through wiiu disaster. 3DS made ridiculous amount of cash and is mega popular, hence the sleeping giant. Update your info.

I like my PSVita. I can play PS1 and PSP games on it, it has some legitimately good titles even though it doesn't have a very large amount of games. Also, I like that some games are for the Vita are also for the PS3 and PS4 sometimes, leading to buying the game once for all of that and having save files go to every system. Also, Remote Play, Metal Gear, and Borderlands 2.

IMHO PSP is the best portable console. Why? Well not because it had great games :) It's because it perfectly emulates almost every portable console that was out before PSP including all gameboys (up to advanced), almost every old console like nes, snes, genesis etc. and the biggest one of course, the PLAYSTATION. This is what PSP is all about. Say it with me - E-M-U-L-A-T-I-O-N :)

very late to the table on this one, but I'd have to give the crown to the launch edition DS for pure versatility. with roughly 3 generations of backwards compatibility, back lit screen, and a really not bad (fudging some points here) form factor, I think it's probably the best bang for your buck as far as handhelds go, even all the way here 7 years after this video was made. I'd still take a good-condition DS over 99.9% of the raspberry-trash being sold for at least twice the price these days (or a thousand dollar-plus smart phone). As always, you guys are the right mix of knowledgeable and editorial, and always love your content. See you next time!

My favorite portable system would have to be the PSP, and more recently the PSP Go. It has a huge library of homebrew games and other homebrew apps for it, as well as two of the best WipEout games in the series. If you want custom firmware and homebrew I highly recommend the PSP Go,you can get a used one for about $80, its far more portable, and has 16gb of built in storage making it perfect for ripped game ISOs, emulators, and homebrew games. Other good official games for the system include Resistance, Motorstorm, Monster Hunter, Coded Arms (the first one) Medal of Honor, and the two Syphon Filter games.

You missed one. At the same time the Micro came out, they introduced (with NO advertising) a backlit version of the GBA-SP (with the same screen as the Micro). The only way you'd know is the box said "new brighter screen". The model of this one is AGS-101, and is the ultimate GBA. I still have mine. The funny thing too, you can take the screen out of the Game Gear, replace it with a modern LED backlit one, remove all the CFL backlight stuff from the old screen, and you get easily 10x the battery life with no other modifications. Those CFL backlights are battery hogs.

Plus, if you mod your NGPC with the light from an Advance SP, there's absolutely no excuse not to hunker down under the blankets on a snowy day with some Card Fighters Clash.

My favorite is the 3DS XL. It has very great games for it (smash bros, Fire emblem, Legend of Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, ect.) and it upgraded it's screen brightness, 3D capabilities, stylus placement, battery life, and most importantly the screen sizes. Also the graphical capabilities are great as it plays fully 3D games at very fluid framerates. Tis good. Also I considered the DS lite, but it didn't have as many upgrades as the 3DS XL.

The 2DS isn't bad for those who don't want to spend the money for a 3DS XL. It only has mono sound, no 3D slider and it doesn't fold, but it plays games just as well as the 3DS does. I found a nice case to put it in so it doesn't get scratched.

Well, not only the game library made Game Boy popular, but also the price. While its competitors, Atari Lynx and Game Gear were priced at $190 and $150 respectively, Game Boy was only $90. From Nintendo's online FAQ: "To our developers, it stands for "Developers' System," since we believe it gives game creators brand new tools which will lead to more innovative games for the world's players. It can also stand for "Dual Screen." Indeed, to developers, it does mean "Developers' System". However, it was marketed and promoted as Dual Screen to the mass market.

When I was a kid I had a Game Gear (and Mega Drive). For the Game Gear I had Tails Adventure, Batman Returns, Taz-Mania, Fantasy Zone, Sonic 1, 2, Chaos, and Drift Racing, Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP 2, Mortal Kombat, Cool Spot, Global Gladiators, The Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck, and uh... Streets of Rage 2. I think that was it. Good times.

I love the soundtrack from Gradius Gaiden in the background! I thought it was familiar and realized it when I was listening closely.

Have to say my favorite portable system is the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Not the most powerful system, but the games are very charming and surprisingly fun. And plus, they made a portable SNK vs Capcom loaded with characters and extra content. Match of the Millennium really is the killer app for the NGPC.

The Dreamcasts VMU was actually an awesome Idea, it was the only thing that got me interrested in the system and if its potential had been used it would have been awesome! Now that memory cards are gone though, that will never happen. :(

Silverzero Sorry for your loss man. I have lost alot of Data over the Years. Gamesaves is one of the worst, since one doesnt quite have the drive to do it all over again.

I love my Game Gear. By the time I got to play it, it was already long gone, but I only had a Gameboy Color, so having a backlight was so nice.

I remember every game gear owner constantly had the battery dildo attatched or had it plugged into the wall. Game boy advance will always be my favorite portable system. I mean portable versions of super mario world, Yoshi's island, ghouls and ghosts, final fantasy IV-VI, etc, plus a huge number of original games like Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics advance, Astro Boy , Sonic Advance, metroid fusion and zero mission, and the best castlevania games outside of Symphony of Night.

The PSP (Playstation Portable) to me is like another Sega Dreamcast that's been rising from the dead after a few short years but redesigned as a pocketable device that could do about the same features as it's predecessor and has many MANY classics from the beginning-mid of it's lifecycle and it also died early like the dreamcast (sorta, even though it lastest longer than it by 4 or 5 years) but still remembered by the masses to this day!

I love the GBA and GBSP. It was the second comming of the 16-bit era. Back in the late PS1-early PS2 era I missed 2D gaming dearly and the GBA gave me the chance to relive it all. At the time it seemed like retro-gaming meant Atari 2600 and maybe NES but I never considered 16-bit retro. I just never stopped playing those games.

No mention of the PocketStation? A PS1 memory card with an LCD screen, sort of like the Dreamcast VMU but even more limited. Ate up watch batteries. Played a Final Fantasy VIII minigame, Chocobo World. And in the dark world of the Chocobo, there is only WAR.
