As Matthew said, he shows the old way of making an indicator panel for the door. Texture Swaps and Making a box & frame for the indicator panel is the old and clunky way of doing it. Delete all of that. The new way is a lot easier: 1. Simply put down a "prop_indicator_panel" and orient it correctly (It will look like a metal frame around nothing, don't worry about it, let it be empty) 2. Open the properties and set the name "Indicator Lights" to the group of lights going to the button 3. Tell the button to instead "Check" on press and "Uncheck" on unpress Your done, it may look empty, but when your in the game it will instead render as an overlay which looks better, the frame won't render, it's just there so you can see how to position it correctly. the entity is smart: 1. knows how to correctly render it as an overlay 2. knows the correct size it should be 3. knows the textures to use 4. knows how to manage lights 5. can even switch between checkmarks and a timer and do so all correctly for you while the game is running Literally just pop it in, wire it up, and your done. Throw away the texture toggles and manual block creations/manual textxuring for the indicator sign.

I've found that with the indicator dots, you can scale them to be longer or shorter and it will automatically add or subtract dots so you don't have to keep pasting multiples of them.

The signing system that doesnt change is the one just before Wheatleys surprise if you look you can see a cross next to a door that doesnt actually function if you use noclip to put the cube on it

I renamed the tick sign: Indicator_lights so it was included with the first texturetoggle and it worked fine. You dont need a second one

By 2016 I was basically sick of the portal games, because I played them over and over so many times, then pc got the fan made levels and I found the editor to be so simple I slept on it, I still havent fully played through the multiplayer, (because no one loves me enough to sit down and play it with me) and that sucks. I'll play it one day.

Ok now my map isn't running! I have a button, signage to door, a cube, and two light strips with light emmiting from them. Any help?

I know this is 2 months ago and you probably fixed your problem. But try to make sure there isn't a "leak", which means your map isn't properly sealed, and the compiler won't know what is outside the map and inside the map. If there is one, you can go to Map > Load Pointfile and there will be a line going from where the leak starts to where the leak ends.

You see where it says, "Select:" and instead of groups, you click Solids, then click on the frame. I was confused too, until I realised this existed. But be careful to click the frame of the tick.

Select the brush with your tick texture on, then press Shift + A on the keyboard to open the texture application. Under the "align" group box, click on the "Face" checkbox. The checkbox may be greyed out, but it should still work and flip the texture in the right direction.
