Im beginner in making terrain, now Im making some brick bases, I use cardboard, it's easy and it looks nice. I have to do ancient altar and one or 2 portals when I finish my miniatures😃 You're doing great job!

A trick you may try next time for a colored swirling pool that is not smooth if you leave the tape on translucent tape holds permanent marker ink really well. You can use any clear plastic like a disposable drinking cup put the tape on the underside to make stained glass windows

I've seen a lot of people in North America get their foam core from Dollar Tree because the paper pulls off really easily. I've tried a couple of different places here in Australia and they all kinda suck in regards to that - any advice on where to get some easy peel off A+ stuff?

Just found your channel thanks to Scott over at Miniac. Love the videos. I was wondering if you would do a supplies video for us real newbs in terrain building. Is this foam you use the workshop floor mat variety? Those things are stupid cheap at harbor freight. Would the foam from kids alphabet pop outs work, or is that to soft? Again loving the videos keep it up. Going to be making 4 or 5 elemental plane portals using this portal template soon. Thanks for putting it together.
@Miscast6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! The EVA foam which is the thick, flexible stuff, you see in other videos is the workshop/camping variety. It is very cheap. From my experience the kid's alphabet stuff is the same material, but even if it was softer it really shouldn't matter. I do think the black mats are easier to work with when it comes to painting though because they're already black. I also sometimes will use thin sheets of EVA foam, which is the kids crafting variety, you can find it in most craft shops, and it comes in an obnoxious rainbow of colors and sometimes they smell like different artificial flavours like bubblegum and blueberry. I try to cover the materials I use in the videos, but EVA foam, Foamboard and 2 Part Epoxy are really the only speciality materials I try to use. I have a video coming up will cover a lot of materials so be on the look out for that. :) Cheers

Miscast Terrain awesome thanks for the info. I'll be on the look out for the video. Also the extra flavors might be great for extra immersion if you wrap the terrain in berry bushes lol

Hi Mate, how’s things ? Loved the season finale. Are you working on saeason 2 yet. I’m using quite a few of your tips on my WW2 dioramas. They’re very applicable to that. I’m also making a few sci fi dios so I’m finding your tips coming in very handy. So thanks a million and keep up the good work. Cheers mate.

Why mix PVA with black acrylic for the base coat? I've never seen this before
@Miscast6 жыл бұрын
It's to seal the sand layer and base coat it black at the same time :)
@massiveshank94337 жыл бұрын
Great video, what is the source for that cthulu looking priest.
The PVA glue is mixed with the paint to better seal in the sand. I used to use watered down PVA glue to seal it and then paint it. But I think this method saves a bit more time for the same result :)
