For some time now, I've been wanting to create a terrain tile system that is portable, durable, and less prone to shifting. In this video, I'm going to show you my new solution that I'm now using to create 2'x2' and 3'x3' wargaming tiles for easy transport.

If you wanted interlocking tiles, you could put female ports in all four sides of each tile. Then have small male-male "keys" to lock them together.

Happy to see you're back! If shipping to Canada's not too high, and you sell this, I'll take 2!

This would work so well with Wastelands Highway! Nice Jim!

Clever solution, but long term durability of the frame tabs might be an issue. It strikes me there are other means than ca glue to attach magnets. Epoxy resin, JB Weld, and regular E6000 all come immediately to mind. Plus 1/4" plywood is ideal for 2 or 3 mm magnets, and there's nothing more satisfying than that click when they connect. Wash those magnets good, make a jig to drill the holes, and boom.

Nice idea. How about on each flat side of a square, you put one male and one female connector. The male always on the right, and the female always on the left. In that way it does not matter in which way you put them, they will always connect. (to clarify, you would get 8 connectors per square).

Fantastic potential with that! I can see some beautiful modular terrain builds using that setup. I did something similar using the eps foam panels intended for workshop floors from Harbor Freight. I did not make an outer frame as one face has texture and its not very slippery so it stays put. Cheers!

One project idea might to make the SVGs available so that folks can do things like burn in custom designs; square grids, hex grids, a compass rose, etc. Heck, even double sided panels might be a cool thing to do. It would probably be outside my budget, but a nice portable game table like that would be fun. For that matter, even alternate designs like a 2x2 backgammon board, a chessboard, or custom border designs all have potential.

Interesting thought. I wonder if it would be valuable to laminate these panels with a gaming mat for ease of setup?

Oh man, it must have sucked to learn you were allergic to super glue the hard way.

I've tried using quarter inch playwood, but it always warps on me. Maybe it's because it is super humid where I live or maybe I'm buying the wrong kind.

Get Baltic birch from a cabinet shop. It's far better plywood.
