That's a sweet piece of machinery! Wish I could find someone reputable around here to port a couple stihl's for me. With a bad back the idea of added performance without additional weight is very appealing. I absolutely love listening to your saws talk as they spew chips. Nicely done Tinman.

Thats damn fine work 1) chain speed IN THE CUT is smoking! 2) this saw does not exhibit any of the overheating problems i have personally dealt with on my 266/272 conversion, even after being turned up so hot. 3) your attention to detail (mounting system interfering with throttle linkage reliability)... most people, including myself, would likely miss that. You killed it here, brother. SICK custom finish on that pipe ;)

That mount idea is awsome I'm really liking the concept I wonder if you could drill and tap the decomp plug to fit the older 61 mounts with the fine thread that went into the metal tanks and use it there... PS. I need a set of those dogs
@jaredhoath31513 жыл бұрын
I rewound the tape a few times and it looks like that's what u did? So it made me think maybe use a cut down spring mount from like a ms361 or something to that effect

Nice work on that saw. I have a stock 6100 Dolmar with a 28” bar and full house chain. It’ll bog down and stop the chain pretty easily in 16 inch cedar when you dig in the rakers. It seems to have power when bucking though. I just cut down 2 small cedars with it tonight. I wonder if you could make it cut better for me?
@Ketis19853 жыл бұрын
Go to full skip chain if you want to run 24-28 inch on 60cc saw. 18-20 with full comp.....
@L3Dhelpguide3 жыл бұрын
Even when it was full bar, it sounded like it would handle another .005" removed from the rakers
@johnarnettsways.87583 жыл бұрын
Nice running saw tinman. You did everything right on the build sr. Quick question on cost difference. What is the benefit of porting a midsize saw and spending money on all the parts and labor when a person could just get a bigger saw with more cc’s and have a factory warranty to boot? Unless it’s like restoring an old saw for its uniqueness and history.
@lloydholt65113 жыл бұрын
It’s more about the build. Sure you can buy a bigger saw but, with the bigger saw comes added weight plus the new bigger saw may not have the same performance as the reworked/ hopped up saw. Tinmans saws are built to do a job and do it more efficiently than a stock saw can. Kind of like building a hot rod only in this case you get a hot rod saw.
@johnarnettsways.87583 жыл бұрын
@@lloydholt6511 very true sr. I agree. However with a hot saw also comes added wear and longevity issues with higher compression. I guess it comes down to what you want. I personally run a stihl saw and run a 28” bar. I don’t work in the timber for a living but do fell a few trees a year for firewood and live edge tabletops. It runs good and is very dependable.

Idk saws that well but I know two strokes an if you make the exhaust tips atleast half the size it will be better. Aka the stinger holes smaller. Ya I’m sure it feels powerful snapping throttle but to get that high rpm power gotta tighten the stingers up alot
