How come when I build up the pressure in my tank to 150 psi, I go to regulate the pressure to my tool connected to one of the cuplinks, it spews so much air out of the cup link that’s not connected to anything, that I can’t use my tool, and it empties the tank essentially?

I've had this same compressor for about 11 years now. Very useful for home use. Tires, nailer, blower. It's great. The only problem I find is the noise. I wish it was quieter like some of these newer more expensive quiet models. But at $79 with a 3 nail gun kit, I think I came out like a bandit.

When putting air in the tires: Let's say the tire calls for 32 lbs. Do you set the gauge on the right for 32 lbs, and it registers what is already in there and just fills the remainder (say they had 25 lbs in them, would it put in 7 and then 'quit') or is it hit and miss or? If the tire was dead empty and you set the gauge for 32 lbs., would that accurately fill the tires? Thanks!

It's not like an air compressor at a gas station. It's best to keep checking the tire with a pressure gauge.

What hose do I get for it?The one that was recommended from Home Depot’s online app has threads on it. Do I need more parts for it or a different kind of hose?
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
If you get the hose that just has threaded ends you'll have to get a coupler and male plug to attach to it. Might be easier and maybe cheaper if you get one of the kits where you get the compressor, air hose, and tools. Here's a few to check out at Home Depot or Amazon: www.homedepot.com/p/Porter-Cable-6-Gal-150-PSI-Portable-Electric-Air-Compressor-16-Gauge-Nailer-18-Gauge-Nailer-and-3-8-in-Stapler-Combo-Kit-3-Tool-PCFP12234/203471431 amzn.to/2UcOmpt

I can’t get the regulated pressure gauge to work so it won’t allow any air to come out of the tank. Any suggestions?
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
If the tank fills up with air and "holds" air, then I gather there's a problem with the regulator. Do a search on KZbin for compressor regulator problems or replacing a regulator.

That bleeder thingy at the end...why did you have to do that and where do I get it?

Sorry for the naive question but do we need it connected to he power all the time or you can take off power plug and take it anywhere after the tank is full?
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
There are no bad questions. Yes, you can, but the tank won't refill. So, it would have to be a real quick short job you are doing.
@lonsomecrow4 жыл бұрын
@@stevekonbass so do you think 6 gallon tank would give me at least 2-3 minutes compressed air without connected to power or lesser than that? Thanks in advance
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
Can't say because it's not really in terms of minutes. It's more a case of what you're using it for and how much air you're taking from the tank. So... let's say you turn on the Porter Cable in your garage and it fills the tank with air until the cut-off point. Then you unplug it and carry it 3 minutes to the furthest point of your property. At that point (provided no air is leaking out) the tank is still full of air. So now let's say you're using a nail gun to mend a fence. You start popping nails in the fence and it'll work just fine until the tank runs out of air. Then you'd have to go back to your garage and plug it in. Hope that little scenario I gave helps.

This is some really good info! You even provided clickable links for the brad nailer and accessories. I just bought this exact compressor today, so it was nice to see how this thing holds up after 13 years (although, I had not seen any of your videos prior to the purchase). You should have just went on ahead and provided a link for the air valve that you replaced, I may just buy a new one to preempt any future issues happening with air leaks . Any idea on how well this compressor works with an air impact wrench to remove lug nuts on all 4 wheels of a car?
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Will. If memory serves me correct, the drain valve that I bought to replace the original was a Husky that I bought from Home Depot for about $6. Haven't used it for an impact wrench so I couldn't tell you. Hope it serves you well.

Awesome! I just bought this kit with 3 nailers. My anxiety is not more after watching this. QUESTION => How do you know what pressure level to use for each tool?? For example, you set the pressure to 40 for the blower but you did not say what setting you used to fill the tire. You then used another pressure setting for the nailer. Where are you getting these numbers!?? :-)
@stevekonbass3 жыл бұрын
The tools should have psi recommendations in the manual. I usually set my compressor between 80 psi and 100 psi when using my brad nailers. If I'm doing my tires on one of my vehicles, I'll set it at about 50 psi and I put a little air in at a time and keep checking the tires with a tire pressure gauge to make sure I don't overinflate them.

I’m trying to put up drywall. Do you know a good air compressor screw or nail tool to use? Or one that can attach to Porter Cable?
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
If you're putting up drywall it's best to use drywall screws. You can get a drywall screw gun at Home Depot or Lowes for around $100. Home Depot rents tools so if you're doing a 1 time project you might want to ask if they have drywall screw guns for rent.
@Jadeoffire4 жыл бұрын
Oh ok. I think I didn’t need to purchase the compressor then 🤦🏽♀️. Ok thank you 😊
@stevekonbass4 жыл бұрын
No biggie. I've bought tools and have taken them back. The compressor is good to have around though. I just used mine for tires that were going flat on my car. You might have seen people put up drywall with nails, but nails tend to pop. Some years back I had a house built and the contractor used nails on the drywall and after a while I had the nails popping through. Glued and screwed is best. Put glue on the stud and then use drywall screws to screw the drywall to the studs. Good luck.
