I'll never forget the feeling I had when this album first released, I was 15, a Sophomore in High School. I had been hyped for this album for MONTHS. I was severely depressed and I just wanted to have SOMETHING to fill the numbness I felt. Nothing made me happy anymore. This album was exciting just because I liked Porter and fell in love with him from Language. I expected a pretty, yet dancey, electro house album. What I got instead, was an album that changed my life and showed me what it meant to be alive and see the beauty in the world. Thank you, Porter. Your music saved me. This album means more to me than I can ever express properly.

Man how do people find deeper meanings in things? I can think deeply about life but when it comes to any form of media I don't find a deeper meaning until it's pointed out and even then I struggle to fully understand it

@@mfbloc9549 I know this comment was 7 months ago, but if your still trying to find deeper meaning in media/life, think about the future, all the jaw-dropping things created, how far we've come as human beings, how only in the past 100 years have we gained the ability to talk to eachother on the internet, how it's brought so many of us together, to porter robinson, to every person on the planet. How I'm able to reach out to you, a complete stranger, is crazy to me. Nothing like this has ever happened in human history. When asking the question, "How do I find deeper meanings in things", you are already thinking deeply into meaning. To enjoy life deeply, you don't even need to think deeply. Just live, because this is our only chance we get, and I think we get to live in a pretty fuckin awesome time.

I feel that so hard. I want all the success in the world for him but I still want his music to be protected (????) from... People. I don't know how to articulate that without sounding like a pretentious snob lmao. But yes I agree. I feel irrationally selfish about his music tbh.

i was making music one day, and I came up with a chord progression that hit me so hard right in the feels, and i couldnt help but feel that I KNEW these chords, like ive heard them before, a long time ago. I sat there and listened to the strings and synth loop that small section over and over, while scouring my memory for why I felt like these were so familiar. as i listened, i was greeted by an overwhelming feeling of peace, and longing for a simpler, more innocent time - and that's when it hit me. The hand from this album materialized into my head, and the memories from middle school me discovering this song and my love for Porter Robinson flooded back, and I nearly burst into tears. I unintentionally recreated this song's chord progression because of how deeply lodged into my brain it was, and how much it meant to me as a kid. A kid with overwhelming fear of the rest of the world, unsure of what would come next, unsure of whether or not i wanted life to take me on its journey, and afraid to leave my comfort zone. Images of a neglected, emotionally damaged child swirled through my head as this song played in the background and reminded me that really, truly, everything will turn out all right. To any of you who may be this child reading this, I assure you. It will be a ride, and at times you will long for a simpler era in your life, but it is the wildest, craziest ride you will ever take, and at the end - looking back, you'll remember those times you took a chance and stepped out of your comfort zone, even for only a moment of glory. I apologize for the wall of text, but if youre reading this, more than likely you decided to click "show more". Im glad to have been given the opportunity to share my nearly incoherent emotions with you, fellow human. I love you.

Last time I heard this song I was in collge back in 2018, my parents were going through a messy divorce, causing arguments between my siblings and I, my girlfriend of 3 years dumped me during that same time and so I was stranded hours from home in a college town where I knew and had no one for support. Also, had like 200 dollars to my name. Ran into this song and helped me push all the way through. Now, 2023, listening to it while I'm moving into an apartment next to Lake Michigan in my brand new Tahoe, got a new job in my field of study, have a beautiful God daughter that's my brother's kid , and the family just keeps getting bigger! Got a great relationship with both my parents still and I have way more than 200 dollars to my name now! This song really saved me, and hearing it now simply makes my eyes water. We doing it foreal. If I can do it, you can too.

I am lost, listening to this at this moment because, I just lost my Toy Poodle Bentley, after 14 and a half years and he used to lean into me giving me his little poodle hugs. My family is hurting so much right now, he was such a special little guy, so loving. His little brother Paisley is a 5 year old Yorkie and is mourning also as he has never been without his big brother Bentley. We loved Bentbent so much and he is so missed, so missed. I know it will get better with time, but for now, 2 days after his death, we are grieving and it is very difficult. Bentley was a member of the family since birth, and was like a child to our family. My kids grew up with him, and we will miss him so much. This song just reminds me of his hugs, I would give my life to feel that little poodle hug just one more time. Rest In Peace Bentley, The Best Boy Ever!

This is electronic. Because it is music. EDM is not music. EDM is a money-making ploy for marketing companies to bring more revenue to generic, over-played pop music that has electronic components. People are just foolish enough to label every electronic thing as EDM because they are don't know what real electronic music is. Keep making beautiful music, Porter.

Well, t's not like he's giving this album for free. You know, selling your work as "something different" or "pretty" is a also a "money-making ploy". It's all marketing, no matter how cool or nice it sounds.

I dislike comments like this because it shows the true ignorance of people. EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music, which means all genres like: Dubstep, Electro House, Progressive House, Deep House, Ambient, Future Bass, Trap, Big Room (even though I despise it), Tropical House, Techno, Melbourne Bounce, Trance, Drumstep, Drum N Bass, Nu Disco, Indie Pop, etc. Please do not refer to EDM as a whole because this song would fall under EDM.
@JungleSociety10 жыл бұрын
EDM may be a ploy for money MOST of the time, but that doesn't mean it always is. It is the people like you that need to broaden their acceptance range and realize that not everything can be explained or put on a stereotypical or generic opinion or thought. EDM is beginning to become corrupt, so I will agree with you on that particular view, but that does not, in any possible way, mean that it isn't music. It also does not mean in any way that people are foolish enough to, " label every electronic thing as EDM because they don't know what real electronic music is. " It isn't the foolish that fall for the branding, it is the people that purely like the music. What I just said does not mean I am supporting the generic, greedy ways some producers have become fond of. What it means is that Porter is doing it right. I agree with you, just some quirks I had to work out.

It doesn't really matter what genre Porter calls his music because at the end of the day he makes the best music ever heard by human ears, from Languge to Sad Machine to Easy to Lionhearted he's the greatest.

For real, I still come back to this album. It's so brilliantly done on a sound design level, like music aside. All that's great, but just what he was able to do interms of sheer soundscape is both inspiring and baffling. I will never not consider this album a work of genius.

In 2018 I broke up with a person I loved so passionately, yet I hurt her in many ways. At the same time, I had to move out. Packing up was so damn sad that I had to put music to pump myself up. Then out of the blue, came this song. I have been listening to it in remembrance of that episode of my life, which I plan to make a game out of. Two years have passed, and yet, like the scars of that breakup, this song stays up in my day to day life. Telling me to be patient. Telling me to be strong. We will wait for this. It's okay, you survived one more day. Keep going. We will wait for this. The trauma will bleed out. You will feel the joy you felt before. I don't think she'll ever come across this comment. I want to tell her that I miss her, even though I can't. Some days she pops up in dreams where she stands by, where she gives me one more chance... I don't think I want that, but in any case... I think I just want to thank her for the memories, for the times. For giving me the drive to surpass anything. without her, I would not have a story to tell. But without this song, the story would be sad. It would be dark and angsty. Without this song, it would have no soul
