Please compare the new UI that you already have on the HS8 (The BM7 II is confirmed to soon also get the new UI) to SmallHD and Blackmagic monitoring UIs. There is no up to date comparison video on KZbin on this topic! Thanks :)

Great video if not the greatest video ever on the BM7II.

Great comparison review! Do you recall if they match colors to each other? Or are at least similar in color?

Great video. The BD1 dummy battery also rotates like the HS8
@JasonMorrisphotocinema3 ай бұрын
oh right! I just saw this. It does appear thicker so I guess that is the pro of the HS8 design as it is thinner

The BD1 dummy batt can be rotated my guy :)

Hey Jason Love your Videos keep up the fantastic work. Question, so looking at these as just being monitors what your take on the differences and or versatility of having a recorder instead of just a monitor, as an example the Atomos Ninja or the Shogun?
@JasonMorrisphotocinema3 ай бұрын
I have the Ninja V. I just don't like how long the boot up times are sometimes and how power hungry it is. For me recording isn't something I do externally but always a good option. the Atomos ran runs louder too compared to both of these

The HS8 feels like a no brainer, would it be a good on camera monitor to use?

I purchased the BM7 II DS for my Sony FX30 and mainly can see myself benefiting from the WiFi- Control features but other than that it's a bit overkill! Can this monitor be transmitted to other devices? If so how?
@PortkeysMonitor2 ай бұрын
Hi, BM7IIDS can output the image to other devices via HDMI/SDI cables

Awesome vid like always 💪, could you maybe please make a davinci resolve colour grading course? Really struggling with it atm.
@JasonMorrisphotocinema3 ай бұрын
it is a completely different node tree/adjustment layer system so I probably won't be make a davinci grade course

@Jason is there a way to output the dual screen view towards either the SDI-out or the HDMI-out ? Being able to do so would mean both DP and Director can see both cameras at once
@JasonMorrisphotocinema3 ай бұрын
not sure. I will have to check this or you may have to ask portkeys if I cant get to it
@PortkeysMonitor3 ай бұрын
Yes, BM7IIDS can output the dual screen to other devices
@mkxdujardin3 ай бұрын
@@PortkeysMonitor Thanks for your answer, another quick question : can the BM7 transmit dual screen whilst only displaying a single one on the display ? In other words : can the camera operator switch between single and dual screen mode whilst maintaining dual output for the director ?

Can we monitor visuals on this device while shooting everything in 6K. 6048 x 3200 (6K DCI 17:9) resolution on upcoming Blackmagic Pyxis or a RED Komodo camera ?
@PortkeysMonitor3 ай бұрын
You just need to set the HDMI output resolution and HDMI resolution of the camera to 1080P, then the monitor will have a display
@HakimZziwaTips3 ай бұрын
I am really tempted on that HS8, but for sure BM7IIDS has some outstanding features. HS8 can make a good Director's monitor for sure.
@JasonMorrisphotocinema3 ай бұрын
Yeah tough choice for me as the HS7T was my go-to for years before the BM7 II DS. HS8 is pretty much like the HS7T series.

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema No touch screen just ruined it all for me, seems a good monitor though.

these are actually quite heavy metal designs

BM7IIDS and HS8 are made of aluminum. BD1 is made of plastic
