Thank you a million for bringing this to my attention! Funny enough I just made my next major channel equipment upgrade to the Canon C70 (in part because of your reviews and recommendations towards it) and I was just thinking about a budget external monitor next. On point and a joy to watch as always. Appreciate you man!

Thank YOU a million! :) I appreciate you checking out my vids, I'm glad they've helped a bit! This monitor paired with that slim battery is superrr light, which I think is awesome.

Good review, but just a pedantic note, when talking about power draw, you want to reference wattage, not voltage. Voltage is a difference in potential, whereas wattage is a measure of power flow. So if it's an 8v draw operating at 1A, it will draw 8 watts of power. If you had a 800Wh battery, you can calculate approximately 10 hours of operation.
@TroyMairs9 ай бұрын
Ahh, thank you so much for this Oren! I learned a lot from this. For my own understanding, lets say we had an 8 watt draw (8v 1a) and we had an 800Wh battery (which i believe to be pretty large), would that translate to 100 hours of operation? (8watts x 100 hours = 800Wh?) I actually have no idea how that math is supposed to work, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank again Oren, I appreciate your insight and I'm pumped to have you here!

I have bought the same monitor and it comes with a completely diferent os. It seems to be like an older one. I want to change it to this one
@TroyMairsАй бұрын
@@enriquefernandezlatorre1079 Unfortunately, I think you've got the newer OS! A few months after this video went live they rolled out a new operating system that really changed the interface. I haven't used it myself yet, sounds like you're not a fan of it? Any particular reason?

Outstanding review. I own the BM5 III which comes with two power cables that allows to connect the monitor to a V-Lock battery, though either 8V DC or D-tap, which is amazing, but of course it's a much more expensive product. Could you make an update of this video with the new update UI ? People tend to hate the previous version (the one you show here) but I actually found it very convenient.
@TroyMairs4 ай бұрын
I appreciate the feedback and kind words! :) I think Portkeys in general makes some really great products. I actually haven't updated to the new UI just yet! I haven't minded the "old" one!
@Superjeanmarc4 ай бұрын
@@TroyMairs From what I could read out there, you better don’t update indeed! Some important key features have disappeared like the ability to see you log waveform while applying a LUT (in the new version, the waveform changes when switching from log to rec709 or camera LUT .. very annoying)

Fantastic video! The titles are great! Actually, I am considering buying this monitor right now. I have a Sony ZV-E10, which is a tiny camera, but I still would like a big 7-inch screen to view every shot clearly. Would a 7 inch be too big for a tiny mirrorless camera? Or is it fine as long as the camera rig doesn't need to be compact.. Thanks!
@TroyMairs3 ай бұрын
Awesome! Thanks for checking it out :) There are certainly no rules or boxes you have to check when it comes to how you want your camera/rig to perform for you! There is real value in having a larger screen to clearly view your image, no matter what camera you are shooting on. An argument could be made that a substantially larger screen could throw off the balance of the rig, but in this case, the LH7H is a very lightweight monitor. So I think you'd be able to mount it to your ZV-E10 and be happy with the results.

great video ! question about output on display - i had a OSEE 5 plus and the signal from my Canon 70d does not display fully on the monitor - would this monitor be the same with the output from my canon 70d ? just want to get the full image displayed on the monitor..thank you

Great question! Unfortunately I'm not exactly sure how to 70d will interface with this monitor. Your best bet might be to rent the monitor first and see if it will give you the full image. That would be frustrating for sure!

Nice review! Does the sony battery work for this monitor? (Sony a7iv)
@TroyMairs4 ай бұрын
Much appreciated! Technically, no the sony A7iv battery wouldn't work to power this monitor. It natively has an NP-f style battery slot. That said, I have seen some adapters out there that can convert beteries, I just don't have any experience with it.

Definitely! If not for the brightness, then certainly for the increased size. Seeing a larger image is always a good thing when shooting, especially outdoors. Thanks for watching!

Does this monitor support pinch to zoom into the video?
@TroyMairs9 ай бұрын
It does! Pinch to zoom and then you can drag the focus box around with your finger! I’ve never found pinch to zoom on monitors to be the smoothest experience like you get on a phone, but it’ll get the job done!

Is there a fan and is it loud?
@TroyMairs8 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the vid! There really isn't much for noise coming from the unit that will cause any concern. I've definitely used monitors in the past that were in the camp of "too loud." This in't one of them.
@SeattleCoorain2 ай бұрын
@@TroyMairs Confused, because a number of other users have complained about fan noise to the point they returned the device even thought they liked many of the monitor's other features as you did. They also mention fan noise did not seem correlated to display brightness settings, which is odd.
