I love the look of the mini! I think it’s so cute, and I wish it would work for me for everyday. I have one and I can use it on the weekends when I may not carry as much, but my preference for capacity is the medium. I love the color honey, that’s one I don’t have in this style yet, but now see that I need to add it to my ever-growing PLG collection! Great comparison video, it really helps someone like me who’s very visual and needs to see the actual difference instead of just reading dimensions.

I agree the medium seems too big for a crossbody. The mini is almost too small for everyday. I wish they would come up with a middle size between the medium and the mini... Maybe called the Medi-Mini 🙂

Thanks for the comparison. Im looking for something for an upcoming vacation to hold a waterbottle, sunscreen, sunglasses case, and wallet. Im thinking the medium would be better. Im also debating between the butterfly bucket bag. I wish we could choose the hardware as i prefer silver but it's not a dealbreaker.

Hey LS! Yes, the medium would be better for that I would say, plus you’ll have extra room for anything else you may want or need to throw in along the way. The only reason I never tried the butterfly is because it has a deeper base and I don’t like anything real bulky on the hip when worn as a crossbody. But? That’s just my personal preference. I do appreciate how light in weight PLG bags are though! Good luck in finding the perfect bag and have fun and safe travels!

Hello Ashley, it is always great to see one of your videos post. How can you not love the color of the bags? You wear both bags beautifully but I agree the mini seems more comfortable on you. The larger bag may become too heavy after a while over your shoulder. I started to watch an older video of yours but got interrupted. If I remember you are in property management. Hey Bill! Always great to hear from you. I took y’all’s advice and did send back the medium, I think you’re right about it getting heavy on my shoulder. I sent it back today and have no regrets, the mini is definitely more for me. I managed rental properties for four years but left that company a year and a half ago when we moved to go to work for Edward Jones Investments, which has been the best job I’ve ever had. We did not deal with HOA’s as we managed homes and apartments that were never in any type of a subdivision or gated community. Most of what we had was for lower based income. Sorry I’m not much help there, wish I could be more help. But I’m always happy to help as best as I can! Hope you’re doing well!!!!

I was afraid that my medium would be too large, that’s why I ordered the pebble nutmeg so it could slouch lower. Just incase it was a bit bulky. I’m 5’ 10” and in a custom form fitting wheelchair. I know my situation does not help. I may be able to ask my daughter who is in the same size clothing I am, but is 5’8” to do a quick photo of the bag hanging on her as you’ve shown in your video. My bag sits across my lap. And takes the entire width of my lap. I can’t answer yet on which one I prefer. I receive my mini tomorrow, it’s from the c-grade sale and I’m unsure which leather it will be. Thank you for the comparisons.

Ashley I love the mini on you. It’s my favorite besides the crossbody tote from Portland. I use the mini on weekends and the crossbody tote for work during the week. Since you love the honey color you might like the dune for summer. It’s a little lighter and pebbled, and a little less structured than the honey. Hey girl! I went ahead and started the return for the medium. Trying to decide between the nutmeg and Sedona. The mini is such a great little bag! I had forgot how much I love it. I do like the Dune too, but I would have find one off the BST. I don’t see it on the website anymore. Have you had a smooth and pebbled bag from them? If so, does one wear better than the other?

@@ashleyssoutherncharm I would love something in Sedona- its just beautiful. I have the smooth and the pebbled. The pebbled is very flexible and doesn’t really hold it’s shape but its soft and smells divine. The smooth leather is more structured and holds its shape much better but isnt as soft and doesn’t smell as good. They BOTH wear excellent. Pebbled hides more variations in the leather- almost perfect bags are great to get in the pebbled. They just don’t show flaws like the smooth does. If I get smooth leather I normally go for premium. No signs of wear on any of my bags. They just look even better with use. Can’t wait to see what you choose!!

Hey! So the medium is a little heavier just because it’s bigger, but PLG leathers aren’t heavy to me. Not like Dooney Florentine is. I’m not a reader so I don’t carry a kindle or books with me, but I know from IG that a lot of people in the book and planner community love both the mini and the medium. I think it may determine what else you’d want to carry? If you simply have a kindle and wallet or book and wallet, the mini should be fine. You should also have room for keys and a phone. But if you wanted to carry anything else like a catch all or a small umbrella, you might would need the medium. Hope this helps!

I didn’t even know they had a medium. Must have been a new release. I’ve had the mini since November and have enjoyed it. Use it every day for work. But I find there are times when I need a little bit more space. So I went with the bigger cross body but then I noticed the medium…and was regretting my purchase. Then I saw the try one and realized why I liked the mini. It keeps me from over packing and I need that sometimes. Your video helped me remember all the things I love about the mini, plus it looks so good one you! Love the vid.

I came to KZbin to see if I could get a better idea on which size bag would suit me better and I think you did a great job at showing the bags! I am already thinking on honey… so that helped as well. I think I am going to try the mini, even though I like the inner pocket of the medium. I am now wondering between zipper and snap. My first inclination is to go with zipper, but some people say the snap is better for the small bag. Any thoughts on that? Is the zipper making the opening too tight? I don’t know if they sale they have bow is a good one or if they have a better sale coming up. Thanks.

I did send back the medium but still have my mini and LOVE her! When I ordered her, the snap was the only option available. If I had the option now, I’d probably go with the zip but having said that, I almost never zip or close my bags anyways! 🙄 But I do like the option of picking between the zip and snap. I would say it would depend on how much you feel like you’ll carry in it? Then go from there. Hope this helps you!!!!😊

I did order a medium with a snap, had I know that the zipper lays flat against the inside of the bag, would have purchased with zip so as not to have the snap on front middle flap. Hey, thank you so much! I’m currently using my Chestnut mini crossbody, I think the mini cb is my ultimate fav bag from PLG. As for the wallet, I find it very easy to use! It’s easy to slip cash in and out of it. As for coins, I don’t keep a lot of them in any of my wallets because I don’t like the bulk that a lot of coins add. So I never have more than maybe 10 of them in my wallet at any given time. With that said, I do not find it hard to fish for them. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi There! I listened to your video a few weeks ago when I was contemplating buying the medium crossbody zipper bag in honey. Great video! I just received it yesterday and I was a little disappointed. It seems dull in color and the leather smell barely comes through. Of course I didn't purchase it for the smell but it makes me wonder about the claim of full grain leather. Also, did your bag come with instructions on how to care for it or any papers whatsoever? It's the most I've ever paid for a purse so my expectations were very high. Thank you so much!

Oh no! I’m sorry you’re disappointed in your bag. We work hard for our money and want to love what we buy, that I understand completely. My honey does not have a lot of highs and lows in it. It did have a good leather smell at first but hasn’t kept it, I’ve had mine for almost two years now. Maybe you could look at some of the other colors they offer? I just got the mini cb tote in Dakota and it’s very pretty. Also, look at FB and search Portland Leather Insiders. There’s a lots of pics posted by customers so you can browse pics other than stock pics on the PLG website. The only thing that’s ever come with my orders is a piece of card stock that says thank you for your order. I believe on darker leathers like cognac or black they’ll also send a note saying to watch out for color transfer on lighter clothing. For care, their website suggests using Chamberlains, which is made in US. I never bought any of that though. I bought Smiths Leather Balm. It’s made in Maine and only has three natural ingredients: cocoa butter, beeswax and almond oil. I like that. I haven’t used it all over my honey, just on the corners. I will say, PLG has amazing customer service though. Email them, they’ll make it right so that you are happy. I’ve had amazing experiences with them. It may take a day or two for them to reply but they do care. Hope this info helps Maureen!

I will say I think the triangle holds more than the mini but is much smaller than the medium. It also comes in Honey and you can add a crossbody strap!

None of the PLG bags are really heavy to me simply because they’re all unlined and have minimal hardware. Having said that, the medium will be a little heavier than the mini because it is a good bit bigger. Hope this helps!

Hey! I don’t mind at all. I’ll weigh the mini this even when I get home from work. I can tell you this, the bags are not heavy. There’s minimal hardware so that helps keep them light. Also, you could opt for the snap version instead of zip and that will help on weight too. On the zip ones they add two extra strips of leather at the top in addition to the zip and zip tape so I’m sure that adds extra weight.

Yes the mini would a water upright but the rest of your items may be a little squished. Unless you went for a mini water bottle, which would obviously take up less room. The mini bottle to me would be an easier fit though.

@@Cfletch97 not to me. Hardware is minimal and not chunky so that keeps weight down. But having that, it is leather so it will be heavier than canvas or coated cotton. But short answer, in my opinion, no.
