Hi Ashley! That Dakota leather looks lovely. In the past couple of years I have sold pretty much all of my “brand name” bags and only use full grain leather now. I have downsized my bags to small shoulder/crossbodies (back & shoulder issues) and Coastal Hillbilly is now at the top of my favorites 😊. Have you tried any of her bags?

Hey Susan! I still can’t seem to let go of my LV, Dooney flo satchel and MK jet set totes. Dooney was my first love of handbags then I found MK and only love his jet set Saffiano line. Especially the totes from like 2013 or so, they came in so many fun colors! LV was my first and only love in luxury, so it will always be special to me. Then I discovered full grain leather and brands like PLG, LKG(Little King Goods), KMM, GFG, and so on. I’ve heard of Coastal Hillbilly but haven’t tried anything yet. I actually forgot about them to tell the truth, but I’m fixing to check out the website so thanks for that!

@@ashleyssoutherncharm I totally get it. I just had way too many bags that I didn’t use. I still purge my full grain bags every now and then as well 🙃. My taste has changed over the years and I love the more neutral tones for sure. I have CH’s inner stitch crossbody. I have literally carried that bag since I got it. I have had to downsize what I carry so that little bag is the perfect size for me 😊. I have a few other bags from her. She’s great to work with. If you want to change something on a bag, she tries to accommodate. The leather is reminiscent of GFG’s leather.

@@saperryrn got cha! I’m like you, in full grain I gravitate towards browns and neutrals. But in MK jet set, give me all the colors! And of course LV is neutral and monotone. Thanks for reminding me of CH. I’m all over the place on styles. One day I want a tote bag, the next I’m into crossbody bags then next I want a single strap long shoulder. I am picky on the strap drop though. I need at least 12-13 in drop at the minimum. That’s why I’m loving my LV Odeon MM so much, it’s nice and long and hits at the fatty part of my hip. I have issues with my right wrist and my right shoulder is my dominate side. So that’s good to know about C H, customization is important to me. And I like being able request a certain hide of leather too. I prefer smoother hides over pebbled.

Ashley is the zipper on the mini pretty smooth?? It looks like its sewn on the inside with a bit of a lip left at the top of bag?? Great comparison- beautiful bag! Thank you for sharing

Yes, it’s a sturdy but smooth zipper. And yes, there is a lip. It reminds me of the way Dooney will do on their tote bags.

Could the hardware be a different colour due to the age of the bag and maybe some tarnishing?

Great question! But no, and the reason I know that is because the honey totes hardware was that way from day one. I also, a year ago, ordered a honey medium crossbody tote and it had the brass hardware. I emailed PLG to ask, and they just said that they do periodically change hardware colors.

Hey! I hope you love and enjoy your new bag, I know PLG is an amazing company whom I’ve grown to care for. I personally haven’t treated mine with anything, but if I were, I would probably go with PLG’s Suede & Nubuck Protectant. I would also, confirm with them or the PLG Facebook group that it’s ok to use that particular product on Dakota leather. Then when whatever you decide to go with comes in the mail, dab a small bit on the bottom of the bag first to make sure it doesn’t change the leather in a manner that you’re not fond of. Hope this helps!

I just bought the oversized in Dakota and it looked more blonde. I’m hoping it’s just an updated color. I love both of these colors but it’s not what I thought the Dakota would look like. I’m a grizzly person myself but I’m trying to expand lol

Hey there! Yes, I noticed the new Dakota with the monotone stitching looks a lot lighter and blonder than this batch with the cream colored stitching. My current fav is of course the mini cb tote, well it’s my always fav but my fav color is chestnut. I wish they’d offered more in chestnut. But, I want to try Grizzly, canyon and I want something in cognac too!

@@ashleyssoutherncharm I’m holding my breath for badlands to come back in the oversized w/ zipper. I like the cognac as well just similar to grizzly and like I said I’m trying to branch out. I’m a creature of habit. My personal fav is the oversized w/ zipper. It’s the perfect carry on size IMO. TYFS

Hey Sheena! My pattern until a few years ago was buy a bag and carry it for a few months then I was ready for a new bag. But I’ve slowed down on buying bags, I’m currently in my LV Odeon, which I picked up late September/early October in Aspen. I’m still loving it! I only bought the PLG bag because it’s a new leather and has contrast stitching and PLG said after they sell out of this stock they’ll be changing the stitching color over to match the bag. I personally like the contrast stitching so I went ahead and got it. But PLG has the best prices and great customer service! There’s a FB group called Portland Leather Insiders you should join.

Have u checked out the Myra bags? I’m absolutely loving that brand right now! I have a tote and a few crossbody and they are so cute and lightweight :) thanks again for your videos, love watching!
