Day in the Life - Portland, Oregon Travel Vlog Day 2 of 2

Day 2 of Portland trip is our only full day in the city, then we wake up the following day to immediately head to the airport and go home.
I forgot to include the hotel room tour upon arrival on my Day 1 video so I added it here. We stayed at The Bidwell downtown and requested a high floor room with a view. On a clear day, Mount St. Helens can be seen from the window, which we saw on our first day.
The room is as expected with all the basic amenities such as a safe, coffee station, fridge, desk, etc. They no longer offer vanity kits, lotions, and slippers unless you specifically request for it. It’s been like that in my last 2 Marriott stays so I guess it’s an effort towards reducing ecological waste.
A unique feature in the room were hooks on the wall, which was highly utilized during our stay. It’s convenient to come in and hang up our coats, hats, and bags rather than pulling out a hanger.
We started off with a breakfast at the M Club that serves scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, cereals, and pastries. After resting for a bit in our room, we walked to the closest Blue Star cafe, which is highly recommended by the locals. It was disappointing that most of the streets we passed by were sketchy and full of homeless. It was unpleasant to have to worry about our safety.
Anyway, Blue Star has a nice interior and offers various unique flavors to choose from. We got The OG, Crème Brûlée, Chocolate Almond Ganache, and The Old Fashioned. I liked them all, Crème Brûlée and Old Fashioned as top 2, and recommend it to others.
Of course, what’s a Portland trip without getting the touristy doughnut option, Voodoo Donut. Last time I was here, we got half a dozen and I liked them all so we decided to come here again. This time, I got the “Dirt” or Cookies and Crème. Not sure if it was because I already liked Blue Star donuts, but it tasted much sweeter for me than my liking.
We walked to the Waterfront Park Trail while eating donuts and were just on time to catch the Hawthorne Bridge lift up to let a ship pass. Really cool to see. We came across so many geese feasting on grass as we continue our sightseeing walk.
Still full from all the donuts, we walked around Pioneer Place, a surprisingly almost empty mall. They have a cinema, H&M, Zara, Tumi, and a food court.
We got back to our hotel right before it started raining. It was nice to see rain in May and it set the mood to relaxing.
Later that day, we visited a European Deli that specializes mostly in German deli and European products. I felt like a kid in a toy store exploring all those new things to me.
Finally, we had dinner at now my favorite Japanese restaurant: MomoYama. I would go here every day if I live nearby. Unfortunately they don’t have it in San Francisco. The other branch is in LA so it’ll still be a trip to go there. Hoping to try it this year for comparison. Everything I ate at MomoYama was 5/5. Octopus Sunomono, edamame with truffle salt, saba sushi, fresh oyster with uni and tobiko, sashimi, The Lobster, Omakase, and Osaka roll… every bite was so good. I went home with a pleased palate, full tummy, and felt satisfied.
The following day, we immediately went to the airport and grabbed some quiche, chocolate croissant, and coffee for breakfast. When we got to San Francisco, we redeemed my priority pass credit and got a burger and a hotdog for lunch while waiting for our connecting flight.
Just like that, the short Portland trip has come to an end… truly an enjoyable and memorable trip.
