LOL'ing at the weather. My son goes to Oregon State University and when we did the school tour we had sun, rain, and even snow/sleet. I feel like we got the FULL Oregon experience that day. We ALWAYS hit up Tacovore for tacos and Grand Central Bakery for all the baked goodies.

If you want some good and peaceful waterfalls, head east to Silver Falls State Park. That place is amazing and worth the drive. No, it’s not Portland, but it is PNW and has the Trail of Ten falls around the 7.2 mile loop.

I love Portland. We stay downtown this summer. We stay at Hilton Embassy downtown. Dt is just like any big city. Went to Pearl district. The next day visited Saturday market McCall park. Also, a must visit Mt Tabor park.Check out the Kerns district. Cool area. Best few days spent.

Whenever I'm in Portland, I go to the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science & Industry), where they actually have a retired submarine in the river that you can tour, along with the jet boat rides and a lot of other fun stuff. I like to ride the Portland Aerial Tram to get an unparalleled view of the city, tour Pittock Mansion 1000 feet up in the West Hills, and go to Hoyt Arboretum and the zoo in Washington Park. And no trip to Portland is complete until you go to the beach and see Haystack Rock, Cape Kiwanda and Seaside.

Used to work by Twisted when they first opened. To try and drum up business, they came by a few times and dropped off bags of various goods. Easily the best pastries I've ever had in my life. Was also lucky enough to work by a Nong's at one point. Easily went here 2-3 times a week for lunch.

Wow! That tree has grown! I haven't seen it in 10 years and it was just a sprout then. The umbrella quip is absolutely true. A lot of our coffee shops roast their own so that is not hard to find. We need coffee probably because of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and because we are busy. There is a lot to do! Por Que No is one of THE BEST mexican restaurants in Portland! It has been there a long time and the Hawthorne location almost always has a line.

Absolutely try Pip's original (or their Beaverton location which is cool too!) If you want some super great made to order doughnuts and chai! If you're looking for some of the best Pizza in town i highly recommend the burnside location of Sizzle Pie! If you're every looking for some other food recommendations or just wicked cool experiences in the area (or honesty the entire PNW, i explore a lot hahaha) let me know too, I'd be happy to help! 😀

Portland is an excellent city for most types of Asian food, great food truck scene, great beer, wine, coffee, seafood and berries. I've lived in WA for 20+ yrs. No sales tax and excellent outlets. Pendleton, Nike and Adidas headquartered there.

Tip: when you get onto the bridge at Multnomah Falls take a second and turn around 💁‍♀️ There are some cute little pools and the gift shop. I snapped a picture of it and had tons of people ask where it was when I posted it!

Blue star is way too sweet and chalky dough. Pips for doughnuts and chai(yes you have to get chai) is the place. The owner is amazing as well. Smallest park and the largest park in a city with Mills end and Forest Park. International Test Garden and Crystal springs Rhododendron are great in city parks. As for your tacos, Mole Mole is the best.

Ha! We moved last year from the Portland metro to the Chattanooga metro. Partly because PDX has been a cluster for a while, and because Chattanooga reminds of what PDX used to be like when we were growning up. Still love the PDX area for the nature and climate, but won't ever move back and the Chatt area has all of that too, minus the crazy.😂

If you're thinking of moving here in 2024, do your homework. PPS has some of the worst schools in the country that are experiencing serious student safety issues due to poor leadership. Consider you'll be paying an additional 2% childcare income tax as well as 1.5% multnomah homeless tax that is slated to go up almost every 2 years until at least 2030. You'll be going to a place that is now the 6th fastest shrinking city in the US in 2024, has the highest commercial vacancy rate in the COUNTRY due to leaving businesses, and some of the most expensive and hardest to land rental markets in the country. Also see the PSU library takeover, pro-Hamas roadblocks of early 2024, still active Antifa (protested hillary clinton in Oct 2024), and issues with crime and homelessness around bike corridors.
