I watched every second and have been taking notes as if this was an actual class. This may sound normal to some people but my dilemma is that I have adhd. I can’t pay attention easily. Unless I’m very interested. And I’m not usually interested in something long. That’s how you know this video is awesome. Thank you so much for this. I’ve never payed attention to anything for more than 10 minutes

People with Adhd have the ability to hyperfocus. Also, you shouldn't let it stop you from doing what you love. Besides, you might find you focus more when you paint.

Thank you for watching my videos! I too was diagnosed with attention disorder as a child. My parents never treated this however ... teachers would always complain about me doodling in class and I still can’t stay still for very long. I almost always hold a brush for no apparent reason, and can barely watch a movie in one sitting. Sleeping is always an issue for me as my mind is always trying to figure out the solution to some obscure problems lol. I’ve got the darkness around my eyes to prove it 😅Anyways, Arianna I know how you feel and am very honored that you have taken the time to view my video through and through! Keep on painting I believe in you 🙂

I am 72 and just started painting. I applied for a zoning permit in Georgetown, DC in 2001 and got caught up in neighborhood squabbles for 19 years. I just got the permit and built my studio. I didn't know it, but I love to paint! It cost me $520,000 in legal and architectural fees just to get the permit. Don't think my paintings will ever recoup that cost but I am just now learning to paint from wonderful artists like you! Thank you so much!!
@bluie28894 жыл бұрын
you are so sweet, i loved how you talked about the "realism" topic, and how mostly everyone is obsessed with the paintings being a copy of "the reality"... as if there weren't so many realities in this world and behind our eyes. We paint and we drag what we see, knowing what we know, and what we feel and what we need to show and express. That's why there are so many times i draw someone but i dont show them because they feel "ugly", because they wanted a portrait of a selfie, posing, so unnatural. i also have adhd, but can perfectly watch this long video, because it doesnt feel boring at all, thank you for being such a sweetie, and explain us all of this art with so much kindness, hope you have a good day💚

Could you shed any light on “oiling out” when you aren’t utilizing alla prima? Do you wipe your portrait down with a thin layer of linseed oil or medium before continuing with the second/third session ect…?? If you do, does each session need more oil than the last for oiling out or just the same thin layer each time and just rely on adding more oil to your pigment ( in respect to fat over lean)? Thanks

O My God, you are my new hero! I have been trying to make an Alla Prima portrait , but for some reason the colors on my painting do not match with the reference. So, the painting went to a total disaster. I have some experience in painting, it did not work however. Had to destroy the entire painting and am trying again. It's been a while since I destroyed a painting due to a failure. I guess the Grisaille Technique is my last hope. I am making a Sacred art painting, so the portrait has to be my best ever. Thanks a lot for sharing your video.

Great technique, I have now switched to the Brunei method for all of my paintings, it seems to work best for me. I have just counted and have 22 paintings at various stages on the go. I finished a painting yesterday and another today. I generally work in threes, I will do 3 transfer drawings, 3 under paintings etc etc. I find I don't get too precious with them if I don't like something I have done. My paintings have a minimum of 3 layers, often many more.

Thanks for going through so much trouble to consistently put up quality instructive content! A bit of perspective for the lead paint though, I don't think adults ingesting is the problem there- rather, the artists' kids. I had fallen in love with oil paints about a year or two before my first baby, and found myself in a dilemma there. Because kids can and will put anything in their mouths and it's difficult to really stop that. So my solution (so far) has been 1) always buy as non toxic oil paints as I can find, and 2) try to develop other mediums like gouache, acrylic, and water soluble oil pastel. It's still a work in progress overall lol
