Portraits of Life, Love & Legacy Through Pediatric Palliative Care

For more than 10 years now, the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center at Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio, has been providing care for children facing complex, chronic and potentially life-threatening medical conditions.
This documentary is the story of seven families facing a heart-wrenching journey and how the caring professionals who walk beside them on that journey guide, support and love them along the way, regardless of how long it takes or when or if that journey ends.

I’m so glad there is now professional people who deal with this and explain it well. My mother, dying from cancer was put into palliative care - as her family, we didn’t know what this was, we were told nothing. My mum then went into hospice, we thought it was a refuge, camp for people to share stories. We thought as young twenty year olds, thirty years ago this was a chance for our mum to speak to other people in her position. My sister and myself came to see my mum and basically begged staff to tell us what that place was, why was she here, where are we. After we were told, we organised for our mum to come home, and be in her home to die.

It's too bad that having a child with a life threatening illness results in divorce. This is the time that a strong couple is needed.

@@irisheyesofbelfast At least in the state I work, the criteria for palliative care and hospice are the same. You must be actively dying. Too late for enjoying time with anyone.

Я не навижу интубацию трахеи. Я больше люблю маски, канюли и трахкостомы. Я не понимаю зачем нужна интуиция? Я не понимаю если есть интуиция трахеи то зачем тогда нужны маски, канюли и трахкостомы?
