안녕하세요 장민영 입니다. 오늘은 선생님께 배달이 된 의문의 포르투갈 와인을 리뷰 해봤습니다. 1-4번 테이스팅은 편집되었음을 알려드립니다. 같은 프로듀서의 와인들이 대부분이어서, 혹시나 와인메이커에 해가 될까 모든 와인들을 블라인드 처리 했으니 이해 부탁드립니다. 영상으로 인해 혹시라도 포르투갈의 위상이 떨어질까 걱정이 되서 영상을 올릴까 고민 했지만, 영상 앞에서 보듯이 페트릭 선생님께서도 포르투갈의 와인을 좋아 하신다 하고, 몇배 비싼 와인을 마셔봤지만, 여기 와인들이 좋다고 하신점, 피터 선생님께서도 오늘 테이스팅 한 와인 몇개가 안좋았을 뿐이지, 더 좋은 포르투갈 와인을 찾아보자고 하신 점을 감안해, 선생님들과 의견 나누고 올리게 되었습니다. 피터 선생님께서 짙은색 포도를 사용 하는게 좋다는 부분에 대한 부연설명을 드리자면, 포트 와인을 양조할때는, 스위트한 와인을 생산하기 위해 발효 중간에 주정강화를 합니다. 효모가 당분을 다 발효하지 못한 상태에서 발효가 중단되는 것인데, 따라서 껍질과의 접촉 시간이 드라이한 와인을 만들 때보다 짧기 때문에 색소가 많은 포도 품종을 쓰는게 유리합니다. 즐겁게 봐주시고, 기회가 되시면 포르투갈 와인에도 많은 관심을 가져주시면 감사하겠습니다! Because of this comment, I’ve lost a lost a great deal of respect for this channel. If you are not revealing the name of a wine producer for fear of harming the winery, you’re in the wrong business. One more bs video like this and you’ve lost this subscriber.

What a wonderful relaxed atmosphere again. Full of interesting things, statements and a relativizing smile! "More, more, more, it gives them less!"(9:35), with regard to wine. Heart warming Patrick. Gold! Peter's last words and his cautious conclusion, are very valuable and is often reality. Especially based on only a few wines. In a general sense, this applies to many well-known wine regions, such as the Douro. On average, the prices of dry Douro wines are highest (also within Portugal). Portugal as a whole is actually a patchwork of wine regions. I have been coming to Portugal for more than 20 years and the land, the people and the wines continue to fascinate. Thanks enthusiasts, let this be continued!

I so often find that Portugal really is a place where producers make better wines thinking they´re not doing that. So many expensive bottles from there can be seriously unpleasant while at the cheaper end some wines can be absolutely stunning!

If i can give you a tip: quinta do infantado. I LOVED their Port and i liked most of their non-port wines

That's a pertinent question. We could surmise that the wines weren't revealed because the protagonists in this channel are merely grifters interested - not in wine - but only their self-promotion and financial gain (however slight).

Try wines from wine & soul, casa ferreirinha ((the best ones (quinta da leda for exemple)) from who come the most iconic Portuguese wine (Barca Velha), try Chryseia, try Quinta do Crasto wines. There are many high quality wines in the Douro. That Portuguese guy in the video gave really crap wines to Peter and Patrick to taste that's for sure.

Hilarious and classic. This is why I love Peter and Patrick together tasting. I understand both sides here. On one hand, it would be helpful for viewers to see which wines did poorly so they can avoid them. But on the other hand, I understand respecting the producers by not showing them. It's one thing to call out Meiomi which is owned by a massive giant, Constellation Brands, but another thing to call out smaller Portuguese winemakers trying to make a living. For me personally, I've rarely come across Portuguese reds that I like. They are too heavily extracted, deep red and rich for my liking. I much more prefer the region for their quaffable whites and rosés in the summer.

@@TheSoulOfWine You're not hurting their reputation. The makers did that to themselves. You're in the US, you're protected by the world's strongest free speech rights, and the country has a long history of product reviews all kinds, from food to wine, film to theatre, and autos to mobile phones. They know the deal and can take it. That's doing business in the US. You ought to rethink your position. Failure to be s straight shooter will only harm your channel.

If you get the chance try the wines from two cooperatives in the Douro namely Montes Ermos, Adega vila real . A good single quinta wine is pinalta . Do not know if these wines are in your market .

Douro might produce fine wines but the finest are made in Dão 😋 But still I believe none of the wines you had was Quinta da Leda which is the 3rd wine of Casa Ferreirinha from the same vineyard of Barca Velha.

Now, as a Brazilian , and heavy consumer of Portuguese wine , I ask if it’s possible to do a Dão region episode . P.S: Douro has a lot of good wines for better prices than that . The people that as marketing this wines to the U.S are not doing the work properly . Cheers !

I am not sure wath you were tasting ... Portuguese wines are really good. and if you are drinking Baga keep the bottle at least 15 20 years baga needs time. If you need some sugestions i can give really nice wines at a fractions of the prices you are talking

You were unlucky with the wines, most probably the wines that are shipped to the US are the commercial least good wines. And Portugal has multiple wine regions Alentejo, Dao, Douro, Bairrada, Beira Interior, Tras os Montes,...

Quinta dos Aciprestes Reserva for 18-22€ Grainha Reserva for 18-22€ Papa Figos for 8-12€ Duas Quintas for 12-15€ Excelent Portuguese wines for a very low price (all Duoro)

I had few bad wines in a row with Bret, it's not that they bad from that region but the line up lacked. Really appreciated the zoomed shots in this one seem as I usually watch on my phone. Made it much more emmersive. The shot with the three in the same frame on mobile is hard to see much face detail. Great and thanks again, this was a really good although I would love to of seen te wines. But I understand with what happened happening to wine king jay is a reasonable fear.

We never said that. I stated clearly that my favorite wines from Portugal come from central Portugal and from older areas around Lisbon. Colares remains my favorite, though shrinking region.

Sorry but this wasn't a good video at all. I'm Portuguese, I drink many fine wine like Bordeaux Grand Cru Classes, Barolos, Chiantis, Riojas, and some Napas as well and we have many wines wo can compete with that ones in the Douro. What wines that guy gave u too taste? 5€ bottles of wine or what? U need to taste Douro wines like Pintas or Pintas Character, Quinta da Leda, Chryseia (made from Symington Family and Bruno Prats from Cos d'estournel) Roquete & Cazes made from Cazes (Portugal) and Bages families from Lynch-Bages so please try some Douro decent wines before u do proper comments about probably the most beautiful wine region in the world

U think Portuguese wines taste like shit but Portuguese wines often get 95 until 100 points from Wine Advocat, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, James Suckling etc and I don't think that's good from your reputation! 2 Masters of wine who don't know nothing about Portuguese fine wine which is much more interesting as south african wine for example, at least we do it with our grape varieties and we're not just another copy paste of Bourdeaux. Very sad to see one video like that from both of u. Maybe I need to come back to Attorney und Konstantin Baum again
