This was something I noticed today in my swing that was causing early extension/casting problems! I watched my swing versus a pro swing, and noticed I was fully extending my trail leg in the backswing, and no pro’s were doing it! I started keeping that flex in the trail leg and immediately started getting my hands ahead of the ball at impact and divots after ball! I assume this was because the flex allowed better rotation and recentering in the downswing. I had to know so I searched KZbin and landed on this video…. So glad I did , it makes sense now!!

This is the best instructor online no doubt. Are used to always be laid off and people would tell me to manipulate my hands to fix it. But the problem was not being connected with my turn. Not opening up too quickly and straighten in my leg. Once I follow these videos I am always down the line or across the line a little like I like to be

I would used to have coaches tell me keep my thumbs pointed at the bar in my backswing which was incorrect or feel like the back of my lead hand faces the ball longer in my backswing, also incorrect
@PorzakGolf Жыл бұрын
Thank you thank you thank you! This is exactly correct and this is how we get everybodys backswibg to out them on the path to the least amount of manipulation for the downswing! Thanks for watching!

Hey Adam! Something I’ve always wondered. Your players all seem to have that ‘look’ from down the line where their arms look quite straightened from ‘the slot’ down into impact. Sorta contrasts with a Hovland/DJ/Morikawa look of ‘right arm under left’ and bent trail arm at impact. I was wondering what is happening differently in the swing which creates these different ‘looks’? Rotation? Timing? Grip type? Strength? Use of force? Mix of things? No problem if impossible to explain on here. Might make an interesting video though.🤔

Would shortening the swing be helpful in a situation like this? For example, instead of increasing the turn, just stop the hands from going to high? For some reason, adding more turn tends to get me out of sync 😓

When I try to maintain knee bend as a 54 year old, it restricts my hip rotation by like 15 degrees. I’m not locking out the knee but it helps me way too much to change this….

Hi Adam, any training aids that you use to get this knee staying flexed with students. Really struggle with it? Thanks
@nicholasortiz4222Ай бұрын
Several years back there was a training aid called Load-N-Fire that was a brace that kept your trail knee in a flexed position.

You know whats strange is you dont hear anybody talking about the flex in rear knee, IF they do its supposed to straighten. I look at a ton of pro golfers swings just to see if I can see what everyone has in common and 1 thing that I noticed before Ive even see this video is the rear knee seems as if it barely straightens, hard to tell because they mostly wear pants but look at Colin M, Tony F, Justin Thomas are some examples. It almost seems as if they barely have any hip rotation.
@ThrifTeeGolf Жыл бұрын
Same and it took me awhile to figure out they hardly straighten it. I have a bad habit of it and have been working on not straightening it so much lol
@PorzakGolf Жыл бұрын
Just wanted to chime in here so we dont get confused! When we keep the trail knee flexed, it doesn't mean to restrict our hips or body rotating to the top. We are simply bracing that trail knee and foot for a more connected backswing. Thanks for watching!

Still confused. You advocate keeping the rear knee flexed. Other instructors advocate straightening the rear knee in order to post up on it on the backswing. Watching pro tour players some straighten the rear knee (D Johnson). Others keep the flex throughout (Charley Hull). Wish you instructors could get your act together or just say both methods are acceptable.
@ZiPolishHammer3 ай бұрын
He’s saying keep “some” flex. The student had been locking out the knee which gets you stuck in your heel and makes weight transfer hard.
@jherl83073 ай бұрын
@@ZiPolishHammer Oh ok so I guess what he’s doing is putting it back on the student because what the hell is “some flex”. Define “some flex”. I guess the student has to figure it out for himself.
