See, they need validation from others that they’re the best. She manipulated Ms. Ford. For example she said “I assume you have regrets about rejecting me.” That is not something a mentally stable person says. Also, she manipulated Stan. She said something about being a kept woman and a man keeping her in an apartment. She was fishing for an apartment from him. She thought she was better than his wife. She thought he’d leave his wife for her. That’s actually a delusion. She manipulated Papi and Blanca into codependency. There’s almost never a moment where she doesn’t manipulates people. It was her fault Candy got sick. I also think she wasn’t that hungover when she arrived two hours late for a photoshoot, just sleep deprived and mildly dehydrated and she should have been fired for this conduct. Now, I ruled out antisocial personality disorder because a lot of her other issues (her flightiness, inability to focus, and impulsivity) are from lead exposure as a child. It’s sad because with those two conditions and substance abuse, she will end up with dementia between her forties and age 60. I witnessed my dad with fetal alcohol exposure and the same personality disorder as Angel totally fall apart throughout my childhood. It was such a similar process. Honestly, Angel should be in a halfway house, not all the places she is in. Not to mention, she was undisciplined as a child. Tragically, she wouldn’t get better in real life like she did the third season. She never had those parts of her brain to begin with. The best that can be done is a halfway house, nursing home, or institution.

Angel has antisocial personality disorder and by season 2, probably narcissistic personality disorder of the covert subtype. Drugs make these disorders far worse. I am honestly surprised she was salvageable in season three. She wasn’t a bad person but I know that it’s rare for someone like that to learn how to function interpersonally once they’ve been using drugs on and off for so long. I am sure there are success stories with these particular conditions but they’re hard to come by.
